    Down between 2 choices!

Wife and I rode the east end of the South Rim on rented ebikes one fine spring morning. Spectacular! Wish we'd had a full day and less clunky bikes to explore a lot more of it. That was our first exposure to ebikes, BTW. Three months later, we each had one.

What's all that white stuff? ;^} Your well-chosen soundtracks always seem to resonate with both the tempo of the action and the feeling I think I might have had if I were the one in the saddle in that place. Generally serene — even on the technical offroad stuff. Where do you find this music?

    The Carrot Effect

Well-known linguist John McWhorter largely agrees with you on both counts. Lets Chill Out About Apostrophes https://www.nytimes.com/2024/05/16/opinion/lets-chill-out-about-apostrophes.html?unlocked_article_code=1.cE4.6EWz.jrm8x9vPx3qp But there's also a fairly recent counter-trend — often seen...

If it were up to me, we'd all use 24-hour time — without the colon.

    The Carrot Effect

Glad you enjoyed it! But why muck up an excellent 4-digit time format by adding a totally superfluous colon? In US military and medical settings, 24-hour time is universal. No colons, and no ambiguity as to what time is meant.

    The Carrot Effect

Big-time Carrot Effect on the Vado SL today! Plan A was to ride out at 1500 to see if I could find some cool-weather cycling garb at Cadence Cyclery, 5 mi down the Coast Highway. Then home by 1630 to walk the dog before the coyotes come out. But things kept coming up. So to make up for lost...

    LED Whips

Very cool but awfully expensive for what you get. Or at least that's what I thought till I saw the quick-disconnect feature. Many more uses then, including... 1. Lightsaber for scaring off angry pickup drivers and murderous dogs. (Not for use against millenials, though. They're probably...

    Just for fun...

This guy's a talented documentary maker. Here's another good one of his. Worth going to YouTube to watch. My two favorite unfortunate place names in Colorado are "Poison Creek Reservoir" and "Faultline Dam". Have found nothing of that caliber in California so far, but I'm sure they're out there.

    Just for fun...

Really enjoyed that! What ebikes do goths prefer? The Mexican holiday Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) — also celebrated in early November, and hugely popular in San Diego — seems to speak to the same human need.

Offshore ebike manufacturers to disappear in 2025

When we moved to coastal north San Diego County two years ago, that was already the case. Ebikes dominated by at least 8 to 1 then and even moreso now. The lycra folks are pretty much the only regular bike riders left. Most of the ebikes here, then and now, serve mainly as utility bikes for...

That first shot should be a postcard! Do snow monkeys ever chase bicycles? Who knows, if they caught one, they might even be able to ride it!
