My throttle on both bikes top out at 20mph. When I’m on a store run on two fairly busy streets at 30mph and 35mph. The 30mph street has no bike path and the 35mph street DOES have a bike path and is a much longer stretch! I like to use PAS 3 and gear 7 at 22.3mph on each road.

That may be the key, winds! Hills are no issue but wind is here. Because there are no hills there is no benefit of PAS 4 and 5, however I can ride against ANY wind strength with PAS 2 or 3 and cut right through it!😉 I can still ride in PAS 3 gear 7 and maintain a 22.3mph.

That’s what it’s all about, having the setup you are content with. In all honesty, the ghost pedaling is trivial. The ONLY time going above PAS 3 is on my store trips. Even WITH PAS 3 and gear 7, I still get 22.3mph and that’s fast enough, for me!😉

I only average about 20 miles a week! I ride M-F, a 5 mile 20 minute route typically for cardio being 70. Even my trips to the store are about the same distance. So, for me, that would be overkill . . . for ME, mind you!😉

I think I’ll try riding a commuter at the local bike store and see if that eliminates the ghost pedaling? Opinion on Shimano (City 1) vs Microsoft (Commuter 1)?

I found out that the Denago Commuter has the same chainring but uses Microsoft as opposed to Shimano, and has 8 gears! Maybe I need a commuter to eliminate ghost pedaling?🤔
