    Trek Powerfly 7, 2017

Powerfly 7 in Glenwood Canyon Colorado - Wife took a 2 second video on her iPhone 7 instead of a photo by accident, but very steady hands so I was able to get a good screen capture. Any more Powerfly 7 club members?

Riding the Glenwood Canyon trail this summer with my Trek Powerfly 7 and my wife on her Neko+ PS: had to screen grab from a video instead of a photo that my wife took by accident.

HUB vs MID DRIVE - how can I compare?

What I didn't like about the idea of eMTB mode is that sometimes I like to use Sport to get higher power but also reduce battery drain, and eMTN would let the bike go into turbo mode when I might not want it to. With the update I can only be certain to save battery if I'm in Tour or Eco mode...

HUB vs MID DRIVE - how can I compare?

I tried using the higher power levels to do a 16 mile ride to the zoo and back at higher speeds than usual (16.3mph avg instead of the usual 10-12mph avg when I limit myself to just ECO and TOUR). It included about 1600 feet of total climbing on the trip, and I dropped to 4 bars at 7 miles and...

HUB vs MID DRIVE - how can I compare?

Thanks for the info, I'll take a look. When I'm on my stationary bike I'm usually pretty steady at between 50-60rpm on a fairly firm resistance, in order to keep going a long enough time for a good workout. But if I try to hit a sustained 75rpm, even at a very low effort setting, I can get very...

HUB vs MID DRIVE - how can I compare?

My normal cadence range is 50-70 rpm.

My 2017 Brose Motor, SLOW as molasses, SAD, such a good looking bike..

Check and see if you can have the bike shop reprogram the computer? Also, check if there is a setting for changing the wheel diameter or the tire circumference, and if it has that then changing it could let you travel a little faster, even if the programming thinks it's cutting out at 18mph...

HUB vs MID DRIVE - how can I compare?

Thanks. Note I didn't speak in absolutes, I said, "...a lot (or most) mid-drives have a torque sensor on the pedal assist, while few hub drive have that feature..." But I did not say all. (edited for a missing word that made all the difference)

HUB vs MID DRIVE - how can I compare?

Good Summary - I would add that a lot (or most) mid-drives have a torque sensor on the pedal assist, while few hub drive have that feature, and the torque sensor gives you a more natural feel to the pedal assist to make you feel stronger while still doing the work to pedal. Also, with a hub...

Must I buy a new car for my hitch/rack/bikes?

I'm using an Ecohitch Invisi hitch on my 2017 WRX, just for a bike rack, as my car isn't rated to tow anything (my 2015 Forester XT turbo has a factory hitch and is rated for 1500 pounds). But the Ecohitch itself is rated to pull 3500lbs/350lbs tongue weight, as long as the car can handle that...

How bike or ebike friendly are the Utah National Parks

And those of us who are riding pedal assist-only e-bikes at 5-15mph on the motorized trails will be maimed or killed by Jeeps and motorcycles coming around blind curves and hills at higher speeds than we can realistically attain. The 20mph limit on a 250 watt middrive can't really be attained...

Ebike Motor Power Curve Comparison Chart: BOSCH, Yamaha, Shimano, Brose

I did notice recently that when I'm cruising on flat ground with the Powerfly 7, at 40rpm in top gear in ECO or TOUR mode, that I don't have to push very hard on the pedals - but then I encounter a mild climb where kicking the assist up to TURBO (from SPORT) can't always prevent me from having...

Ebike Motor Power Curve Comparison Chart: BOSCH, Yamaha, Shimano, Brose

No problem. I usually just leave it in SPORT when off road (don't have eMTB update), because I see very small gains going up to TURBO mode from SPORT, and yet it's still quite powerful when I need it so I usually don't get stuck on easy and intermediate trails. I can see where eMTB allowing...

Ebike Motor Power Curve Comparison Chart: BOSCH, Yamaha, Shimano, Brose

So, will you go back to "riding mostly in TOUR and just occasionally go into TURBO on steep climbs"? And if so, how much range do you expect to get riding the old way vs with the new eMTB mode?

    Trek Lift+

I feel that my wife's Neko+ with Steps sounds louder than my Powerfly 7 with Bosche CX.

Powerfly 5 FS - Any opinions

E-wheels - I got mine in March 2017 and since it has walk mode I assume it's a 2017 model. The shop had to order it in for me - it wasn't sitting in the shop. Update - The pair of Altor 560G locks work great when linked together to lock up both bikes, and at 1.2lbs it's almost weightless in my...

Anyone bought an Xtreme Cherokee 1250 front wheel drive yet?

Agreed, a mid-drive would be better for climbing, and my Trek Powerfly 7 has plenty of power to climb and grip to go off road.

LOL it's just for my iPhone 7+ with 5.5" screen. I picked it up at REI for $25.

    Interchangeable batteries

Would you say that the new bike will become your first choice when riding with friends, or you just wanted it for variety? I'd like a variety of different bikes as I do with my watches, but I can stash 60 of my watches in less space than one eBike, although many cost a lot more than my Trek...

Why didn't you just buy another Voltbike if you wanted to have a compatible battery?
