    "Sticky" steering

Wow. You are running 25psi on fat tires? That's approaching the max rating of many. Must be like riding solid tires. And, you don't necessarily gain by higher pressures -you can have too much of a good thing; https://janheine.wordpress.com/2010/10/18/science-and-bicycles-1-tires-and-pressure/...

How Important Is Electronic Gear Change Sensing (shift sensor)?

I crunched my gears like crazy at first which helped to destroy a chain. Now I rarely do - it's a matter of practice. Gear sensor is a nice to have but now, it's not worth the hassle to install - I may get one one day when I have some spare time to work on the bike.

    My idea: AWD 1500W Radrover

Here's someone that did it; http://electricbikereview.com/community/threads/bbshd-installed-in-my-radrover.3988/

Just put a BBSHD on it. :)

Ebike for cross-country travel; advice? (Sondors or something else?)

4 If you want to reduce the risk of derailleur issues go IGH - rohloff is the best and most reliable. Don't have to nessessarily rule out fat bikes but a Sondors is really not the one for a tour like that - and put on fat road tires instead of knobbly off-road ones. I can change mine with my...

    Fenders from Big O Mfg.

All those other fenders you mention are the same I think - painted steel and we all know what happens to steel once the paint is a little scratched. But Big O will still produce the plastic fenders but not the hardware to attach them - let's hope someone else will offer something reasonable or...

    stock battery charger

Assuming a 2A charger (which is a fairly standard power rating) that's how long it would take to charge a 12ah battery, give or take. Chargers can get very warm - is it fanless? - but too hot to touch sounds a bit off. Buy a new, better one.

    Fenders from Big O Mfg.

Looks like Big O has taken turn for the worse - no custom fittings, not even fittings for known bikes and no international orders any more. Seems like he doesn't know how to capitalize on cornering the market - Big O was the only place to sell decent fenders (actually the only place to sell any...

    Chain coming off

If they are shipping bikes with such crappy derailleur hangers and poorly sized chains as you describe, someone should shout at them. Loudly. These are such basic things and not difficult or expensive to get right. And yes, there things could also cause chain drop issues. So first step should...

    Chain coming off

Highly likely it's a chain line issue. One way to help this can be to buy a narrow wide chainring to replace the one you have (I'm assuming there's not one fitted already but it's difficult to say from reading the rad rover site. A narrow wide won't reduce a bad chain line but it will help...

    Battery and chain throwing issues

A couple of things you should read, especially the second link which deals with chain length adjustment; https://www.sheldonbrown.com/chains.html https://www.sheldonbrown.com/derailer-adjustment.html#chain

comparing similar bikes which would you get?

$800 is a lot for a rack, brakes and a gear. The rack and hydraulic brakes you can add onto the cheaper bike for a lot less than $800. A $300 hike is okay I would say but $800 is a bit much.

How do you clean your Stromer ?

I wash mine every year or so. ;)

Then do you want better brakes, another gear and a rack, $300 more?

    Battery and chain throwing issues

And remember; don't short change yourself on the chain, get a good one as mid drive ebikes put out a lot of torque. If you can, get an ebike rated one - they are harder and more resistant to stretching.

Sondors Fact Finding. Due Diligence. Scrutiny.

Yeah, I walked by a Sondors yesterday which surprised me in my small Norwegian town - although there are literally hundreds of ebikes here these days, I thought I was the only electric fat biker.

How do you clean your Stromer ?

If it's a decent ebike it should be water resistant at the very least, so soap, water and rags should be fine. Just be careful using pressure washers or high pressure hoses as they may force water through seals and gromits into places you wouldn't want water.

comparing similar bikes which would you get?

The hydraulic brakes are worth getting. 9 vs 10 speed, is dependent on how/where you bike. Also, 9 speed chains can be slightly stronger.

    Battery and chain throwing issues

Your chain drop and rear cassette issues are probably your usual stretched chain and/or worn rear cassette - these things happen on all bikes and are standard wear and tear. You can replace both for very little money.

    Stop hating ebikes

The problem is you can't easily distinguish between "skilled" ebikers and "unskilled" - though I'd like to see the sign at the start of the single track that tried; "Only ebikes with riders that won't kill themselves and others on the single track allowed. Any unskilled riders on a normal...
