Why do the big bike brands (almost) never use hub motors?

I like a lot about Ridge rider but it’s class only. would be great to have a high quality 500/750w hub drive with belt drive/ Deore+ drivetrain, High quality front suspension fork for rough roads (Eg Suntour Mobie 45 Recon RL or even Rockshox 35 gold), 600 wh+ battery and be < $3k. I believe...

Why do the big bike brands (almost) never use hub motors?

This has been a really fun & educational thread to read. I have been asking myself the same question. One hub motor bike that I am looking forward to is Shakti by Zen/ Ravi. Meanwhile wondering other than Stromer who’s making high quality hub motor ebikes.

    Rize RX 2021

Stromer ST3 stem and handlebar modifications

That’s great to know. Which handlebar did you get? I am still debating whether I buy a ST3 or not. If I do, the dealer will have to do some work on the bike to install wren fork anyway. So I was planning on at the same time have the dealer swap-out stem and handlebar and replace it with Stromer...

    Biking vacation - companies??

Rich, not sure how much you know of Backroads but for newbies/ lazy folks like me they are great. They design the itinerary, book accommodation, arrange meals, curate your drop-off and pick-up points, drop & pick up travelers and their bikes, escort you while you are riding, fix any problems...

    Biking vacation - companies??

All I was wondering if there are other companies like Backroads that arrange group tours using bikes. While backroads has now started offering electric bikes, I was wondering if there are other options. Eg Europe has a few companies that offer biking holidays/ tours on Riese & Muller bikes.

Stromer ST3 stem and handlebar modifications

All For ST3 Stromer has two options for stems and 3 options for handlebar. By default ST3 sport comes with 5 degree stem and sweep handlebar (0 rise and 20 mm back sweep). Has anyone had an experience with replacing both the stem and the handlebar? Ideally I would like to get the 20 degree...

    Bulls?

I hear you on naming. Super confusing. I had really liked Iconic Evo TR1 speed but it’s sold out and won’t be in stock until fall. Tried Sentinel 2.0 as a backup but didn’t like it as much (personal thing around feel, comfort etc).

    Options compared to Ride1up LMTD

I don’t think I have a strong preference for cadence vs torque sensor. Main requirement is < 65 lbs, upright, class 3, really good front fork (some people have called NYC roads worse than unpaved trails) and general high quality bike.

    Options compared to Ride1up LMTD

Hey guys One of the bike that appeals to me is Ride1up LmTD and wondering there is anything else out there that may use more premium parts. Main criteria is 1. < 65 lbs 2. High quality front suspension 3. Generally high quality parts 4. I am indifferent between hub and middrive and actually...

Urban Evo 10 vs Cross Lite Evo

Thanks a lot. 100% agree with what you have said there. Out of bulls lineup, sentinel 2.0 is now actually top of my list. One of the question marks I have is whether riding position is too aggressive. I need something fairly upright. So trying to figure out how to test ride. I feel Sentinel...

Any option for a refined Bafang Ultra commuter?

All Is there anything else like WW Helios? By that I mean: 1. < 60 lbs, clean looks, option for tires with width < 2.5” 2. Upright commuter / urban riding geometry 3. High quality parts (Rockshox or Aion/ Auron fork, Magura MT5e brakes etc) 4. Bafang Ultra Motor, Refined controller Frey CC...
