Are mid drives just naturally less zippy than hub motors?

I can guarantee you that the phaserunner is more powerful than the luna controller. Wow, you have a 52V battery that puts out 58.8V at 25amp. I have a wolf battery as well and it doesnt do that, Did you have to pay extra for that? I thought you stated above "NO SHIFTING", you also claimed if...

Are mid drives just naturally less zippy than hub motors?

Here is a Grin Motor Simulator anybody can play with. https://ebikes.ca/tools/simulator.html?bopen=true&motor=GMAC10T&batt=B5213_GA&cont=PR&wheel=29i&mass=140&hp=0&motor_b=MBBS02&mid_b=true&gear_b=1&tf_b=52&tr_b=16&batt_b=B5213_GA&cont_b=PR&wheel_b=20i&mass_b=140&hp_b=0&axis=mph I picked a 52t...

Are mid drives just naturally less zippy than hub motors?

SolarCabin? 🤣 ...Im just speculating based on your google skills. That looks to be a BBS02? What Size front sprocket is that? How about the rear? Easy enough to put all the info into the Grin Simulator (which has BBS02 and BBSHD motors)

Are mid drives just naturally less zippy than hub motors?

Lots of interesting twists and turns in this thread as well as apples to oranges comparisons so I thought it might be a good time to throw my thoughts in the mix. I have two identical DIY high power ebikes (52V, 30A, 1500w). They are both built off Sulry Ogre Framesets and every component is...

Rear brake disk rotates free, what kind of setup is it? Lockring? Screws?

I have 180mm front/160mm rear rotors on several e-bikes(including some around 1500W) and have probably 10k miles combined...no issues. I brake hard all the time. In fact, I practice maximum braking stops several times a ride, including downhills approaching 40mph.

Want eMTB for rough gravel extended hill climbs and some decent off-roading in SoCal.

Lots of good advice being given here but the biggest issue I see is your budget of $2700ish. For your desired climbing parameters, I dont see any reason why you should consider a hub drive (I have owned a few and still do). Its the last thing I would choose for a 12 mile 2600ft climb...its...

Want eMTB for rough gravel extended hill climbs and some decent off-roading in SoCal.

I ride my GMAC 10t 3 times a week for over 8k miles with typical rides about 1.5 hours and 1.5k elevation gain without any issues. No signs of any overheating issues when opening up the motor. I do run a Grin PhaseRunner and CA3 with temp control and push this system to the limit everytime I...

Just a heads up for anyone wanting a 2022 specialized Turbo Levo(Gen 3). There is a 9 day sale going on thru specialized that seems to be honored by local specialized dealers. The discounts are pretty substantial. I will likely be buying a 2022 turbo levo comp alloy tomorrow.

Juiced CCX rider in eastern PA

Its pretty easy to disassemble the motor and regrease the gears. I did so on my CCX awhile back and it did quiet down the motor. It did eventually get louder but nowhere as loud as before. I used lucas white lithium grease I forget all the details but talk about it in post #126...

Winter Is Coming - Biking in Cold Weather

Come on stefan you always seem to be the spelling nazi yet you screw up 'behavior', just playing by your rules. Interesting statements Stefan, your just projecting like usual. I have many PMs from you where you where quite the bully (according to you namecalling = bully). I would love to...

Where to get a Juicedbikes 52V*19Ah battery mount for a usual bike?

That battery requires a frame specifically designed for it unless you want to use some sort of bag. Probably best to try to sell the battery locally

Not really any problems I have noticed. I usually keep my bikes indoors except for the winter where they are constantly covered by muck from ridng in snow melt conditions. My garage can get down to 20F on the coldest days. I run stans in tubes. I have had two weird occurances over the years...

Tire Puncture Survey for those using Sealant.

For my riding (near denver co), goatheads are the major source of flats offroad. In 1999, I encountered about 30+ goatheads when I had an off trail excursion. No amount of patching/tubes got me back on the road so I had to call a friend. I started using Stans (in tubes) way back then and have...
