    Trek FX+ 2 or Verve+ 2?

Call me crazy, but I feel that anything less than 400w (500w+ preferably) is not enough electrons for ideal riding. My wife has the Verve 2+ and we can run her low on electrons by the end of a decent 40+ mile ride.

    quirk on two battery bikes?

Interesting. Per my experience with Trek & Purion display, the available electrons meter immediately displays the added electrons when I snap in the 2nd battery regardless of the available electrons in the 1st battery.

Should I buy a maintenance package from LBS

There are other reasons to buy the maintenance package. Buying plans for our ebikes were the ONLY maintenance plans I have EVER purchased. Why? Dealer relationship. No, the plans never actually paid off in service. But paid dividends in friendship.

It's time to make Tucson's Loop an ebike tour destination...here's why

We rode a one-day, ~50 mile portion of the loop in April (we winter in Gold Canyon, Tucson is ~1.5 hrs away). Decent ride but no better than trails in other nearby desert communities. We found the scenery (overgrown washes, etc.) detracted from the experience. Tempe/Scottsdale trails are our...

Why Roadies Don't Smile-funny article I just read

When encountering bikers I can always pick out the ebikers before I see their bikes — recognized by the smiles on their (our) faces.

Looking for advice on 1st e-bike

Tell your family the bike cost $1,999 and add a few $ of your own. Also, read through EBR’s bike reviews.

Looking for advice on 1st e-bike

Your price point may be an issue. You don’t mention how far you intend to ride. You should expect to put on smiles as you ride 2x-3x the distance you normally would ride on an acoustic bike. You just do. It is fun to explore. That said, you don’t want to run out of electrons. The price...

Hello from the twin cities mn

Welcome to e-bikes! I am also 71 and lived in Brooklyn Park back in the mid-70’s. I could then ride from Brooklyn Park to Minnehaha Falls on designated bike paths. On my 10 speed, of course. Do you ride around the Lakes? Remember when Minneapolis put in a separate asphalt lane to separate bikes...

    Bike Rack Obscuring License Plate

At last report 49 States require the vehicle’s rear plate to be visible at all times — which also means lighted. Not known the one “rouge” State. Maybe that is yours. The Police need to be able to see/read the plate to check for violations before they exit their cruiser.

    Speed vs battery life

I will concur to established norms per battery life, but I have minimal degradation after 7k+ miles and 2 years of near-daily cycles to full each time. Maybe I have blinders on or I just don’t ride as hard lately. Given I ride mostly in Turbo (because it is more fun) I am used to frequent...

    Speed vs battery life

Per my experience, riding in Turbo mode sucks ~4x to 5x the amount of electrons as Eco mode.

    Bike Rack Obscuring License Plate

My home-made setup includes a light bar for the taillights and a lighted mount for my license plate. A bit cumbersome to assemble all, but also a deterrent to stealing the bikes. FYI, I had several conversations a few years ago with Kuat and they were adamant they would not incorporate lights...

    Tubeless Repair Kits....Advice or suggestions?

Per recommendations above I have now ordered a Dynaplug kit vs the bacon strip plugs I have carried but (luckily) have never needed to use. Sealant is a must. Also of ultra importance — and to help maintain tire pressure while plugging — is an electric pump. My favorite: LILTSDRAE Portable...

Anyone else go tubeless on their allant?

As a side note, the Sealant should be refreshed/added-to every 3-4 months. I recently had 3 morning flats - 2 rear, 1 front. The liquid volume within the tire leaks out as it seals punctures. Initially I just added air, but then added sealant and have not lost tire pressure since.

Flashing Headlamp On E-Bike During Daytime Rides

A flashing front light paired with Hi-Vis is doubly visual. But I agree, flashing at night is unsafe for the rider — unless you are into strobe lighting. Tripping in the ‘60s.

ChatGPT on the joys of cycling and buying another ebike

Recently, I turned to ChatGPT when faced with a rather difficult repair challenge. Having chatted my bike’s problem with scores of EBR members and gotten their best advice, and also Google searched multiple ways for various repair topics, I queried Chat. And quickly received a very...

    Bosch CX controller, Amp

I go back to amperage draw, which is the hidden variable within the equation. The best I can do is a factor for Amps, i.e., relatively speaking, Turbo draws electrons (amperage) at 4x Eco. Purion is not very forthcoming with its data.

    Bosch CX controller, Amp

When I decided to ride only Turbo, I quickly realized that I also needed to add more electrons. And Lithium is not cheap. I took an extra breath when I read Bosch’s performance graphs identifying how few extra miles I would get out of their 500w Range Extender battery. It is like 25 miles. But...

    Bosch CX controller, Amp

So if we can draw 520 watts of electrons into the motor from a 500w battery, it would seem as though the battery either cannot meet that demand, or it will expunge its electrons very quickly indeed, hence the need for 625w or more if you enjoy the rush being a speedy rider. I do.
