Not asking, just making a point.

My wife and I lead several bike groups. When breakdowns occur it is always with the “discount” bikes. Yes, there is a difference in what you pay for — which is often way more than 1st ebikers are expecting to invest.

Nah, it’s not cheatin’, I just got a problem with being passed. Goes all the way back to jr. high school track. 2nd place is first loser. Even at 60 yrs old I won our State Senior Olympics in the 50m, 100m & 200m dashes. It’s in my blood. I like speed — BUT when biking whenever I encounter other...

Not asking, just making a point.

Maybe so, unless you ride in Turbo all the time with a Speed motor. If I get passed by a roadie (twice only while slowing for water) it won’t take long before I ride him down and pass him — pedaling with flip flops and a smile just to add flavor. It is an endurance thing.

Not asking, just making a point.

Is this concern for disrespect from others really about what bikes we ride? Sure, there is always the one better than mine, and some writers may be short on tact, but try not to be too hasty writing off the whole forum. There are way more friendly, helpful and often humorous contributors than...

    Good Stuff You Bought

The temperature here in AZ is predicted at 100 degrees every day this week. Temperature sensors become moot. It is the breeze at speed that keeps us cool.

It’s official: E-bikes are actually bikes, not ‘motor vehicles,’ according to new EU rules

As long as they only test for alcohol sobriety I should be OK.

    Tubeless tire experiences

Yes, sealant is a must and an extra squirt or two every few months provides added protection. Since going tubeless and thousands of miles, I have had zero flats compared to too many with tubes. Slime or similar can be very messy if you need to replace the tube — which I needed to do before...

    Alternative rack for Allant+ 8

Yes! Package and market the design. Make enough to buy a cup of coffee! Just kidding. Probably 2 cups. Share with #offthewall. His idea. 8,800+ miles on my 7s — probably 90+% in Turbo. That’s all I ride. I gave up on the lower assist levels after a couple of thousand miles on my Verve+3. Still...

    Alternative rack for Allant+ 8

Yours is really a perfect solution. I have researched p-clamps and cannot find any with a longer leg given a primary purpose of the clamp is to cinch at the pinch point. I do have additional room between the front of the trunk and the seat so I could possibly slide farther forward to create...

It’s official: E-bikes are actually bikes, not ‘motor vehicles,’ according to new EU rules

I hope I never get stopped. I doubt I would always be able to pass a sobriety test. Just sayin’

    Alternative rack for Allant+ 8

Excellent! Those clamps are what I was envisioning but unable to resolve. You must have had prior experience With those clamps. Questions I have are 1. The same as Sefutau per strength and fit and also 2. getting enough separation above the fender for clearance of the MIK adapter plate’s male...

    Alternative rack for Allant+ 8

Cool! Those clamps are what I was envisioning but unable to resolve. You must have had prior experience with them to know they exist. Questions I have are 1. The same as Sefutau per strength and fit and also 2. getting enough separation above the fender for clearance of the MIK adapter plate’s...

8000 miles in about 1 1/2 years on my allant 8

Excellent riding — and double with your tandem. Kudos! Does your family ever see you?! Very durable bikes. I recently added an 8s to my 7s. I also just ordered a Kiox to replace the Smartphone Hub and a Range Boost adapter (which you also appear to have done) so I can swap the battery between...

    Alternative rack for Allant+ 8

A last piece of componentry swap would be a suspended front fork akin to the 7s. My 7s will continue to be my #1 bike considering all of the mods I have done to it including a Range Boost battery. When I bought the 7s I decided against the 8 or 9 exclusively because of the lack of suspension and...

I'm a two year old, again and i cant wait

Ooohhh, ouch. The expensive first cheap ebike. Welcome to the forum and hope you only have smiles on your new bike.

"Best advice for new ebike riders" from us

One additional advice for the new ebiker: hold your brakes on when mounting and dismounting. The heavier bike can easily slip away — causing both bike and rider to end up on the pavement.

    Alternative rack for Allant+ 8

Concur on the junk Smartphone Hub mount. I strap my phone with rubber bands. The first thing the Trek tech who built my bike advised me about the bike was don’t put the phone in the holder! It will fall out and break. A confidence building product endorsement that was. I am changing to the...

    Alternative rack for Allant+ 8

The Trek rack is 4 1/2” outside width, the Giant MIK rack is 4 3/4” It also has those 2 nubbies on the inside I thought I could use but didn’t. Per pix I mounted just ahead of the nubbies. Please share your mounting solution. Interesting to see.

    Kiox 300 replaced Smartphone Hub - 2023 Trek 8s

Trek Tech support confirmed the need for the Kiox System 2 controller for the 8s. Controller and mounting bracket only as the wires and remote thumb control are the same. I just purchased an 8s via the Trek Employee purchase program. Less than 50 miles and am planning to move to the Kiox. I...

    Alternative rack for Allant+ 8

#offthewall is correct. Although the frame is identical, Trek made the parts nearly non-swappable. In theory, they felt panniers-only makes it a better commuter bike. But the rack is not nearly as ridiculous as the COBI controller. I am seriously considering swapping to the Bosch Aftermarket...
