    FX+ 7S?

No direct experience but high regards from a Trek employee who has one (my brother). Comparatively, I have an Allant 7s that is a bit heavier but just as nimble and quick. Also have Allant 8s and Verve+3. I would definitely consider the FX+7s given it all of the quality componentry and very...

Difference Between Performance Line Sport vs Speed

Coincidence, my 1st ebike was a Verve+3 but decided a class 1 did not meet my need for speed. We rode Gazelles (150 miles) in August on a bike tour in Idaho and liked the bike but the model was a class 1. Surely the Gazelle class 3 model would be more to my style.

Difference Between Performance Line Sport vs Speed

When I picked up my new 8s the Trek Tech advised me to always use an extra strap to keep my phone in the holder. My opinion was Trek really chose poorly with that controller configuration. So I had Trek swap it for a Kiox. Much better controller. Also, per motors, my 7s and 8s both use the...

Difference Between Performance Line Sport vs Speed

Not trying to get you any more “worked up” on this issue, but Bosch speedometers are incorrect according to every highway radar I have ever encountered. Your Purion, or Kiox or whatever controller your bike uses will display 15 mph when you are only moving ~13mph. Or, if your display show 28 at...

    Shifting Gears

After replacing 2 or more cassettes you will recognize a commonality per when they need replacing. Most often you will feel the chain climb a tooth and then snap in place. Feels like a slip sometimes. Another telltale is if it happens primarily on one shift direction on one gear. with a sharp...

    19.5 mph top speed

Like you, my 1st ebike was the Verve+3. And like you, became bored with the class 1 speed restriction. I really liked the bike but not enough. I next bought an Allant 7s. The Sport Motor is a class 3. Now I can go class 3 fast when it is practical and safe. I really like going class 3 fast. One...

    Two MIKs...sort of

Kudos on your 7s purchase. And the MIK adapter scenario. Very universal. I have 4 different MIK-adapted carriers and trunks I swap around as the ride suggests. I also ride a 7s and recently turned over 10k miles. My fav. ride. Like you, after multiple transports back and forth cross country...

    Glad to be here

The Katy Trail is on our bucket list. And so are many others, but I see real benefit in supporting the concept of re-establishing Katy’s economic corridor that was thriving and supported many communities when the iron horse rode the rails. It is coming back via biking enthusiasts. My wife and I...

Police patrol on E-Bikes. OPP - Ontario Canada

Trek built a Police Ranger 12sp E-MTB. https://www.thebicyclestorenj.com/products/trek-police-12-speed-ebike My hometown bought 15 for the Police Dept. In 2019. Trek also didn’t like how their bikes were used as weapons by the police...

    Glad to be here

Welcome to the forum. And yes, you made good choices in your rides. And yes, we all relish the added distance ebikes can provoke. No hill is too high. No road is too long. No wind is too strong. You are on an ebike! (my moniker) Ride long, ride strong. Enjoy! p.s. I have purchased 8...

Going to document my weight loss

To gain a few pounds I suggested to my Cardiologist that I was going on the All American Drive-Through, Fast Food Diet. It is guaranteed to Super Size you! She said absolutely not!

    pedal pins and cleats

To avoid having my foot slide off the platform pedals on my e-bikes I have changed to MTB pedals on all, and at my wife’s request per the same problem, we changed to MTB pedals on her two e-bikes as well. The MTB pedal pegs work nicely both as a shoe-sole grabber and a shin shredder.

    Rolled over the odometer

Rolling the odometer is nothing new for you high mileage riders, but this was a particularly important milestone for me following neurosurgery to remove 2 brain tumors 5 months ago. I have ridden the last 1,400 miles since surgery, riding with my bride most every day, including yesterday’s 50...

    Crank noise Vado Sl

I had a similar sound from my crank and it turned out to be the sole of my wet shoe rubbing on the crank! Squeak on every revolution, no squeaks while coasting. Mine was a very high tech solution. Ha!

    Well-controlled tire pressure experiment

Rear tire. I was riding at low torque <10mph but must have twisted the tire just enough to blow out. Quite a mess as it spewed sealant all over. <800 miles on PanaRacer GravelKing tire. I have ridden these tires for >3k miles with no problem. Always liked the tires. Earlier in the day I had...

Bike Rack for Trek Verve+4S Lowstep

Pete, I see you are in Superior. I am in Madison. If you cannot locate a beam and it would be worth your trouble, I have 2 beams I don’t use. My brother gave them to me and I never had a need.
