    Carbon Wheel Build with Ebikemotion

Just another thing to note is that the hub motor engineering design is awful. The cartridge bearings on the non drive side = new motor, and on the drive side the freehub is a part of the motor which = new end and motor rebuild. All = wheels need to be rebuilt to work on the motor. The bearings...

    Carbon Wheel Build with Ebikemotion

I too am not particularly enamoured with Orbea and Mahle’s stance on Hub motors and batteries. I’ve been in touch with my bike supplier and have been offered a new hub motor for £480 GBP this then needs a full rebuild of my carbon wheel though. It’s like pulling teeth dealing with Orbea, as it’s...

Orbea Gain rear hub noise when freewheeling

Hi Phil, did you get the work done? And how much did it cost? As you say I reckon it’s no more than 1-2 hours work with the right tools which are unavailable to us!

    Carbon Wheel Build with Ebikemotion

I haven’t got the spoke lengths to hand as the wheel builder sorted that out. Another valid carbon rim would be the Nox Falkor as it’s available in the US https://www.noxcomposites.com/falkor55r

    Carbon Wheel Build with Ebikemotion

Hi Steve I stripped the hub of my rear wheel (Orbea Gain) posted it to Ryan Builds Wheels in Bristol and they did a custom build 32 spoke rear and 24 spoke front with Disc brakes, tubeless Conti GP 5000 for £1000 including shipping. The pics are in this thread earlier.

    Carbon Wheel Build with Ebikemotion

The Mavics are special builds for Mahle Ebikemotion (I couldn’t buy them). Nox Falkor 55r as Brendon has shown work well https://www.noxcomposites.com/falkor55r and https://www.ryanbuildswheels.co.uk/ can get a 32/24 setup

    Carbon Wheel Build with Ebikemotion

Hi Murph https://www.ryanbuildswheels.co.uk/ built the wheels for me. I just stripped the rear wheels and sent my hub to them. The wheels cost around £1000 gbp.

    Carbon Wheel Build with Ebikemotion

Hi Murph, I did the same originally in trying to buy the Mavic Cosmic Pro wheels. The best explanation I got was from Ribble Cycles. Ribble get the wheels directly built for them by Mahle Ebikemotion but couldn’t get some for me. There aren’t as many options for 32 spoke rear but Oregon Cycles...

    Carbon Wheel Build with Ebikemotion

Lovely bike wickedsixx. I got my bike wheels custom built by https://www.ryanbuildswheels.co.uk/ I sent them my rear hub and they supplied everything else. I am unable to find a similar spec wheel in the sub £1000 gbp category. They look and ride like a much more expensive wheel. They can build...

    Carbon Wheel Build with Ebikemotion

The Dyodo is certainly an awesome bike even in stock form. I much prefer the cleaner lines of the Ebikemotion solution over the bulkier Bosch crank drive.

    Carbon Wheel Build with Ebikemotion

Hi Wicked I have the aluminium Orbea Gain which was around 13kg all in. The carbon frame version is around 11.3kg. I’ve lost around 0.5kg rotational weight with the upgrade. So around 12.5kg. The entire Ebikemotion X35 system is 3.5kg of which 2.15kg is the hub motor. It now spins up very...

    Carbon Wheel Build with Ebikemotion

I read this article with great interest as I have an Orbea Gain with the Ebikemotion x35 system. The stock wheels weren’t very good, so decided to go with Parcours Strade with a 32/24 spoke count. Needless to say I’m ecstatic with the result. So, many thanks for the inspiration, and to...
