    Consumer Reports: Ebike Fires

You can't idiot proof anything. You can try but there will always be a bigger idiot to thwart the effort.

    Consumer Reports: Ebike Fires

Left charging for days???? Kind of like reading a story that went like: Family home catches fire after the family starts to cook dinner but decides to go on vacation leaving it cooking on the stove.

    Co-op rules against ebike

Any consumer product that causes 191 fires in New York City in a single year is going to be banned. Not really as cigarettes are still the major cause of fires in NYC.

Looks like a Ride1Up Scrambler/Super73 Type bike is coming

If you can't adjust the seat height how can it have a rider height range of 5'2" - 6'4"

    Ride1up Support Nightmare - I Do Not Recommend Ride1up

If you had a local bike repair shop why didn't you start with them? It's not easy to diagnose a problem over the phone.

    Hyd Brakes Suggestion

I put cable activated on my Rover and they work great and are super easy to install as you don't need to deal with installing anything but the calipers.

    solar generator

I guess it sounds like it won't be a good solution for my needs. At least my little inverter generator does a good job for what I need most when the power goes out and is relatively good at producing that power for as little gas as possible.

    solar generator

Last week I lost power for about 5 days following a rain storm with high winds. I have a 2200 watt inverter generator that I used to power internet, TV, and my fridge. I have a wood stove so was able to stay warm with out my heat pump and a gas stove so I could at least use the burners for...

    On The Road Repairs

I set up mine near my workbench and rigged up a 2X4 that slides out of the bench and clamps to the frame if I want to steady the bike although I rarely use it. I like that system as I can lift the bike to any height I want for convenience.

Sounds like the foam would take up more space in your bag than the jacks.

Not Ebike but.... $25,000 fine seems low considering the damage. https://www.yahoo.com/autos/lithium-ion-batteries-ignite-three-230000180.html

    Consumer Reports: Ebike Fires

"It seems there have to be a bunch of deaths before anyone has the stomach to push for a fix." Hmmmm, not so far in the firearm industry.

    Consumer Reports: Ebike Fires

Perhaps I'm not remembering it correctly but the stories I read seem to be about some enterprise where someone is charging a bunch of batteries at the same time rather than an individual charging his own battery before going for a ride.

Broke my chain into two pieces? WTF

Is it possible the master link somehow got disconnect and then the other link broke when it got wrapped around something?

    Consumer Reports: Ebike Fires

If a battery burns there is nothing left to analyze to determine if it was the battery or human error. Was it damaged and they tried to charge it anyway? Were they using the wrong charger? Seems to be too many variables to blame it on an inexpensive battery if there is no way to determine why...

    Consumer Reports: Ebike Fires

No they are not bad to use. I still buy and use corded. Lawnmower, String Trimer, poll saw, and blower. Not only are they a fraction of the cost of battery power, they are all more powerful than battery power and I won't have to spend a pile of money to replace batteries (assuming they are...
