Trying to not break my Nuvinci hub

Yes you will need all new components, the Nuvinci is a larger diameter. The Rohloff is an amazing hub, it has taken 3 years of my abuse on the bike I commute with and hasn't given me any trouble at all. I like the Nuvinci hub, it does what I expect, but I am more cautious about stress when I...

    Problem with generic hubmoter kit

Depending on the kit there is often an LCD screen with input switches and an on/off switch separate from the throttle. If you are able to measure amperage between the battery and the controller that should be sufficient to confirm the battery can power under load which means at the minimum...

    Problem with generic hubmoter kit

After changing the controller you still don't receive any power on indication? No LED's? Is the controller a separate component from the input device? If it is, there are only two possibilities, a bad input device, or battery. Measuring voltage without a load is OK unless the battery or BMC...

lacing a motor hub, spokes and watch outs

The only rim I'd recommend is the Ryde Andra 30 and Sapim Race spokes. Use a 2 cross lace pattern and a spoke tension between 1000-1200nm. I have built a large number of wheels and can assure you that using poor quality materials or poor building technique will lead to broken spokes. Also...

Known Issues & Problems with Bafang Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

"I was just wondering if there are some settings in the bike computer that I should be checking, or if there could be a fuse somewhere that needs replacing?" I don't believe this is the issue. A blown mechanical fuse would disable the bike until it was replaced and the controller should be...

Known Issues & Problems with Bafang Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

OK...what does M2S say? What exactly does "konks out" mean? What happens? Is the motor very hot to the touch when this happens? If you let the bike sit for 10 minutes does it turn back on and you can ride it? There are a number of possible issues that might cause the problem you describe...

Cheap solution to kick stand rattle.

I wish the class 6 roads I ride on in New Hampshire were that good. Besides the potholes that swallow bikes we have large rocks that "peek" up at'ya for a bone jarring slam. Never road an IZIP so I can't comment on the bike. Class 6 road begins at about 30 seconds in. Court J.

Cheap solution to kick stand rattle.

That is clever....but a good kickstand with a good return spring shouldn't rattle. Court J.

Luna Sale BBS02 and Panasonic Battery Combo

Too bad Paul doesn't establish a USA operation. He'd do very well based on his battery knowledge and ability alone. Court J.

Luna Sale BBS02 and Panasonic Battery Combo

I'm not here to pump Luna but this is a great price $750 for the combination. If you upgrade to 13AH 52V battery the total is $825 for the combo. Ordered separately the price is $965. Saving $140 sounds pretty good. Court J.

    EM3ev Factory Tour

Thanks for posting this Ravi. Having built CNC equipment for my own factory I really appreciated the CNC spot welder Paul built. Battery fabrication has come a long way in a few years! Court J.

Tandem conversion to BBSHD - advice needed

I'm a big fan of IGH's. The only concern is to make certain the IGH can handle the additional torque. The Rohloff 500/14 can and I know some posters have used the Afine hubs so hopefully they'll comment on it's torque requirements. I don't think the chain length will be an issue. If you find...

DYI battery pack, used cells, how to deploy varying capacities?

!!! You are literally playing with fire. If you use mismatched cells, or one cell is defective in the pack you could have a serious failure resulting in a catastrophe. Court J .

Trying to not break my Nuvinci hub

It's a little late in the game, but someone mentioned Rohloff Speedhub in a prior post and that really is the long term solution. I have three bikes (including a tandem) with the Rohloff installed, all driven with Bafang BBS02 750W mid-drives. My regular commuting bike has over 3,000 miles...

    Tandem eBike ?

The only pictures I have of the custom build are in the DIY forum. I built a frame to slide a Topeak pack in the rear. I don't usually carry a lot of gear and the Topeak works better then panniers for me. Here's a link to the custom build...

    Tandem eBike ?

Hi Brambor. Don't visit this site very often anymore but your query is of interest to me. Having ridden tandems, converted a Cannondale using Bafang mid-drive and built a tadpole tandem from scratch also using a Bafang mid-drive I have two observations; 1st, hills are more challenging on a...

    Custom Trike

Going that slowly with a hub motor isn't really going to work. More then likely the motor will overheat and fail at any power setting that would be useful. Court J.

Mid drive and cadence upper limit (top end).

Are you referring to motor RPM or pedaling cadence RPM? Your posts reference both. For instance: " The RPM is increased to 130-150RPM from the BBS02 750W which ran at around 120RPM which is way faster than you could ever pedal" I'm honestly not certain how to interpret this quote since...
