    Hi..

Why need to reduce weight. On road few kgs won't make much difference. Carrying up and down stairs then yes.

    Upgrade a new bike?

Just looked at Cube range which is now quite extensive in NZ and heavily discounted 30% off. That might be because we are going into winter but did hear supply globally has caught up with demand so you might be able neg a bit on price. Here they have quite few fully spec models in...

    Upgrade a new bike?

To save costs Specialized use the same name for 2 totally different ebikes. Turbo Vado are heavy (around 50lbs) trekking/commuting ebikes with powerful motors, front shock and large battery. The SL is light weight low powered sportier hybrid type bike. Checkout Turbo Vado 3.0, 4.0 and 5.0...

    Upgrade a new bike?

Sounds like trekking bike is what you are after. Eg Moustache Xroad 2 or 3(10spd), Vado 4.0. Cube also have some. These type of bikes are great tourer, commuters with option to do some light offroad eg forestry roads and gentle MTB tracks. HT MTBs aren't ideal for touring as they put lot more...

    Upgrade a new bike?

I agree with Stefan here, most factory fenders give better coverage and more sturdy than aftermarket ones. I've fitted Jones bars to FS MTB to make it more comfortable for touring but wouldn't recommend them for MTBing. You can MTB with them it's not enjoyable more case of just getting through...

    Upgrade a new bike?

When comes to MTB quality of suspension makes all the difference and its not cheap to upgrade. Price difference between different spec levels not only gives you better suspension but also drivetrain, typically bigger battery, more powerful motor. In end its cheaper to just pay extra upfront and...

    Vado 4.0 vs 5.0

If you have saddle that works for you best keep it. We did when my wife and I changed bikes.

Dork disc... Love it or lose it?

After cleaning my bike always use brake cleaner on disks. When lubing/cleaning front fork I have bike upside down so spray doesn't drift down onto brakes.

Recommend me a cassette, chain and derailleur for my Aventon ebike

A few quality ebikes are now bring supplied with Microshift instead of Shimano 9spd. Might of be supply chain issues, even so the bike manufacturers would've done their homework. https://biketestreviews.com/microshift-vs-shimano/ My quick google on Aliexpress had Deore 10spd groupset with...

Platform racks with optional ramp should help with loading, just wheel bike on. Can even use walk mode which you should learn how to use. If you don't know what that is see your manual, youtube or Courtney will have videos on how it works. Thule make great racks while expensive make easy work...

Suntour NCX, another mismatch for me.

Both my dust covers have fallen off, recommend cable tying them on but not so tight it interfers with movement.

    Zoom brake part resource

I've not had bad experience with Aliexpress. Shipping time is lottery budget on 4-6weeks but it can be variable. Recently <2wks except for led bulbs I ordered and gave up on eventually turned up 4months later. Good prices on original Shimano parts. Lot of Amazon sellers source their products...

    Zoom brake part resource

When Zoom brakes do crap out consider upgrading to Magura or Tektro who do brakes with a switch.

Thule bike rack for dost bikes.

You get what you pay for. Thule folds up in suitcase size in few secs. Easy to throw in boot of most small cars or store in corner of garage. I use towball version that can be fitted to car along with bikes in 2-3minutes with them secured with racks key locks. Press leveler and tilts to allow...

    Brakes

Issue isn't hydraulic brakes but the poor quality ones on this bike. Entry level Shimano, Tektro, Magura abd SRAM brakes can operate reliably for years without being serviced, even through it's not recommended.

    Brakes

I would suggest entry level Tektro brakes with motor cutout switches in brake lever. Shop should be able to source them

Should I buy a maintenance package from LBS

Buyer is looking at IGH belt drive bikes. 20-30,000km from belt with odd tension which can be done when IGH gets a service every 5000kms. Any electrical issues will be covered by motor manufacturers 2yr warranty. Service is for normal wear and tear items may not electrical faults.
