Cyclist husband that I'm looking to keep up with-- help choosing!

Lower spec middrive bikes typically have less powerful motor 50nm, smaller battery and lower spec gears and brakes. These should be fine for your purposes, any 50nm motor is more than enough to keep up with unassisted rider. Whether you endup riding in eco or tour mode time will tell. Go for...

I could smell my Vado motor about to fail

I thought NZD1200 (USD800) included labour for replacement bosch motor 3 years ago was expensive. Specialized sure know how charge like a wounded bull. Replacement was done in 3days and shop gave me free loaner. 25000kms between 3 other bosch bikes and no motor failures.

    Raleigh Chopper MK3

Cool bike to convert but given their novelty I'd go for low powered approach. This isn't type of bike you'd want to ride far, fast or on lot of big hills. Small hidden rear hub, with 150-250wh battery under gearshifter or seat. No cabling on handle bars, use gearshift lever as PAS switch. Would...

Does anyone check all bike's bearings on initial assembly?

I've found cone bearings not adjusted correctly on two new ebikes. You'd think on $4000 bike shop would spend a bit more time making sure its right.

Wiring 3rd Party Hardware Into Bosch Batteries

Only special tool need is crank puller for left side pedal. Should be some youtube videos on fitting these cables. If bike has lights just cut existing wres and connect to them. If bike doesn't have lights, first check the cables aren't already fitted before buying some, quite often this is...

Wiring 3rd Party Hardware Into Bosch Batteries

Bosch ebikes motors have two output ports for driving lights. The cables are easy enough to buy from dealer or German sites like Bikediscount and bike24. There is no need to splice wires into battery terminals.

    Canyon Precede:ON 5 -- Anyone own one?

Better after market support with Canyon as any Bosch certified LBS can work on your bike and their are lot more of them than Specialized.

    Canyon Precede:ON 5 -- Anyone own one?

Lets compare bikes Specialized Vado 3.0 . For $3500. Basic 9spd gears, gutless 50nm motor and 530wh battery with bulky 4A charger. Canyon $2000. Quality Deore 11spd gears, punching 65nm motor that can do 28mph. 400Wh? Battery with compact 2A charger. For regular charging 2A is better on...

    Canyon Precede:ON 5 -- Anyone own one?

UK site had 50nm Activeline plus which is good allround motor had good quality 11spd deore shifter with 11-51t cassette which is unusual. Typically this motor comes with 9spd 11-36t with higher spec 10 & 11spds fitted to more powerful 65nm and 85nm motors. With 11-51t cassette there is no hill...

Canyon and Bosch: Just confusing? .... or actually fradulent?

If picture is right then it is 28mph 65nm motor. I think someone at Canyon just made a mistake when they said 50nm in brochure. Bosch don't do a 28mph 50nm motor. Order and test ride if doesn't do 28mph then don't buy it. Why miss out on great bike because of somebody in Canyon marketing...

Canyon and Bosch: Just confusing? .... or actually fradulent?

65nm as per his post. Won't give high level of assist as 85nm Speed which is more suitable for sustained riding in high 20s. Sport is better suited to low 20s with odd burst to 28mph. I've dongled gen2 CX 75nm and tend to cruise in low 20s with old burst to 30mph to merge with traffic. NB has...

    2021–2022 Riese & Müller Homage

There is a little more noise with JW but most of time you will never notice it between background and wind noise. More rolling resistance but you have motor so it doesn't matter. Excellent for offroading and plenty of traction on the road. Expect about 3000kms from rear tire. For rough tracks...

Hi! i would by 6A Fast Charger ( Bosch ) if you do need it ! Tnx!

The 6A is good for lunchtime topup and when matched to 750wh battery extra current shouldn't degrade battery to much overtime. Still better to use a 2A or 4A for regular overnite charging.

Specialized Vado 4 vs Gazelle Ultimate 380+ (long)

If they are older gen3 65nm performance line you can get dongles to get around speed limit.

    Step-Thru

Get a dropper post. If fall off your bike when stopped. If you fall off underway I doubt step thru would help, don't have time to dismount before your are on ground.

Help! Can't get my wife to try ebike.

Hiring a bike for half day is best way to try them out. Make sure to include few hills in the ride. Recommend a middrive stepthrough. The hub drives with throttles can bite if not use to them.

Criteria: Mid-Drive, Belt Drive, Class 3—what bike do you pick?

Class 3 really need 80-90nm motor if you want to sustain 25-28mph over long distances. Vado 70nm would be more in 20-25mph range with short bursts upto 28mph. I've dongled old gen2 CX 75nm will do 25-30mph no problems with light headwinds on flat. Add moderate headwind or gentle slope and 25mph...
