Specialized teases details of Globe Bikes sub-brand Cargo eBike

Might be better creating new brand name while still selling through Specialized shops. If they do turn out to be a lemon won't hurt Specialized brand to badly. Better customers tell their friends "my BrandX ebike went up in flames" than "my Specialized ebike went up on flame".

Experienced biker but new to e-bikes

Would need to be very large hill with sustained effort by rider to overheat motor. Lower rider input less output from motor. On flat motor won't be putting out max power. I've never overheated Bosch motor or battery and ride in some very hilly country. With bosch batteries the first 2 bars...

    Daytime Running Light(s)

The Axa 30 and 50 are quite effective in day and standard on lot bikes. I upgraded wife's to a 80lux light had but switched back to Axa 50 as it was lot more effective in daytime which is 99% of her riding. For odd tunnel or unlike path 50 is fine.

Are Bosch Speed 28mph motors programmed different?

There are 4 performance motors. Performanceline (65nm) Performanceline Sport (65nm 28mph ) Performanceline CX (85nm) Performanceline Speed (85nm 20mph) The difference between 65nm and 85nm should be obvious as their bodies are different. Edit changed last one to Speed was sport. Sorry about...

Highly recommend a stepthrough. I was after crossbar version for more attachment points but out of stock so bought step through. So much easier to get on and off. When starting sometimes scoot then slide my right leg through gap, reverse for stops.

Don't get hung up on battery size, the price difference between spec levels will cover cost of 2nd battery if you need it. Smaller batteries are also easier to transport. The feature rich bikes are worth extra money ie mudguards, kickstand, lights and rack. You will need pannier for rack but...

Downhill with Turbo Tero 4.0 EQ

Lot rattles come from kickstand, try strapping in place with bungy.

Downhill with Turbo Tero 4.0 EQ

Displays personal thing, I like Purion as prefer looking at scenery than watching screen, have phone for that when not riding. Replaced Intuvia with Purion as found it to distracting.

    Brake pad & rotor replacement

When I swapped rear from MT200 to M6000(level + caliper) I used old hose without any issues even though they are different. May not be optimum braking but huge step up from MT200s. Not sure how well MT400 level would work with M6100 caliper but be interesting experiment.

Shimano XT Levers - two styles M8100 vs M8000

I'm confused. When I went down this path with M6xxx and M7xxxx levers older 6000 and 7000 had clamp at end as per 2nd photo. The newer 6100 and 7100 have clamp partway down as per first photo. If running Bosch Purion display really need the older left side x000 levers as newer x100 ones clamp...

    Trek rail 7 as commuter?

I have quality FS eMTB plus a HT Trekking/Commuter. The eMTB with dongle and road tires is awesome faster commuter but only gets used occasional. Without dongle I'd never ride on road. HT is my goto bike most time. HT trekking bikes like Kathmandu, Vado, Xroad make far better commuters while...

    Thoughts Of An Experienced E-Biker

I started with FS eMTB then discovered needed commuter/trekking bike. Bought quality HT MTB and fitted lights, mudguards, rack , kickstand and dongle as 25kmhr is to slow for commuter. Was awesome commuter, fast, powerful and excellent handling unfortunately my knees didn't like it so trekking...

There is quite a difference in shifting quality between Alivio and Deore. SLX is another step up again.

one kid, lightweight, less $, USA - help?

Power delivery by torque sensing middrives is totally different from low cost cadence sensing hubdrive ebikes. You need to test ride both to understand difference. Torque sensing is lot better in low speed situations as power delivery is smoother and more predictable.

Downhill with Turbo Tero 4.0 EQ

The low front mudguard is likely to get caught on small drops more so than rear. I'dstart with removing that which should be straight forward. Would also give you clearance to run more aggresive front tire which is essential. May want strap up kickstand or remove to stop it rattling.

How much "power" do I really need?

If you are luck both bikes batteries will be interchangeable and very least you can share chargers. They are different lengths but some bikes with 500w have spacer to allow for longer 625w battery. There are also 2 different types of powertube batteries, vertical and horizontal, connectors are...
