Why do the Dutch not wear bike helmets?

After visiting the Netherlands recently I noticed an interesting phenomenon. It seems the Dutch don't wear bike helmets. I learned that under 1% of cyclists use helmets. I also learned that overall injuries to cyclists are way less than any place in the world, so what gives? From what I...

Latest News from Riese & Müller

Thanks again @marcparnes! This means a lot coming from you and as you said. This is a formula which works. Regarding the integration of a gearbox and a middle motor, I think the Enviolo concept makes a lot of sense since it’s the only truely automatic system on the market at the moment. Shimano...

    Video: Gazelle Ultimate t10 Review

We had the pleasure of visiting Gazelle in Dieren in the Netherlands for an early preview of their 2020 bikes. We reviewed the Ultimate t10 which is a totally new low step bike for Gazelle. It's a sporty bike with the comfort you would expect on a Gazelle. I really enjoyed this bike and I think...

Latest News from Riese & Müller

Thanks Marc! It's really our pleasure. Thank you for trusting us with your business. @Dewey I saw this as well. It's really unfortunate, but I feel like I saw it coming when they introduced a half baked product several years ago at Eurobike. It's a really challenging business and frankly, I...

    Schwalbe Super Moto-X discontinued?

Technically they aren’t tubeless ready tires meaning the rubber is made to be completely sealed however I have seen them setup tubeless without an issue.

Bosch eBike Updates for 2020 - Generation 4 Motors | CX | Cargo | Speed

My suspicion is that there will be another display to replace the Nyon at some point. There is so much there and it would be a shame to just let that product die.

I found it to be as well! I just hope we place cities in the states can learn from the Netherlands.

Bike Infrastructure Tour in Amsterdam with Meredith Glaser of the Urban Cycling Institute

Urban Arrow arranged for a bike infrastructure tour while we were in town for their International Dealer Conference. I wanted to share this tour as I think it provides some really great explanations of what infrastructure in Amsterdam exists and how it works. More about Meredith and her...

    MIK racks on the Nevo

Sorry about the mixup. I think New Zealand has the 20mph limit. I do think it would be better to buy it in your local region though. Great rack mod @Alaskan!

    MIK racks on the Nevo

It’s the same as the US. 20mph or 32kph in Australia and 15mph or 25kph Spain. We can perform some service, but the respective countries don’t have the same motors available for warranty if it comes down to it. That’s the main thing. Sorry I wasn’t clear.

Video: Gary Fisher on Why eBikes are the Next Big Thing!

Thank you for being an agent of change @Cowlitz I felt similar when I was given a 25k fine for selling “motorized scooters” in NYC, fortunately that was taken care of to avoid a PR nightmare and since then the city has really begun supporting eBikes. I hope you still find enjoyment in riding...

    Flat Tires Perspectives: an invitation

I also recommend the Tannus tire liners. They are new to the market but they are really making waves. They’re lightweight and perform really well. I would also recommend sticking with a tire with some protection. The stock Rock Razors are specially made for R&M and they have puncture protection...

    Riese & Müller factory

Thanks for sharing @Timpo it was fun making the video and diving deeper into what goes on. @dblhelix I think we might see a future where they are making their own frames, but it’s quite an undertaking to make modern frames at scale. These days it’s all about robots and the investment is...

    MIK racks on the Nevo

Excellent feedback @dblhelix ! Thank you for your thoroughness. @JohnnyRhino sounds like a fun trip. I don’t want to complicate things for you but I have two small points of feedback. The Bosch motor in Spain is different than that in Australia so it might not be as easy to get support when you...

Leg room in the Load 60 vs Load 75?

I have personally sat inside the Load 60 and 75 with foot wells. The 60 makes a big improvement with this addition but there is still slightly more space in the 75 as the footwell is slightly larger. But for one kid I would stick with the 60. There shouldn’t be much of a difference in sizing out...

Custom ebikes are now possible with Bosch

Great to hear Ravi! Sounds like a sweet bike coming. The Gen 4 motor is pretty sweet. I’ve know about this program for a bit and I’m excited to be able to share this presentation. I think it’s a great program and I’m excited about the future possibilities.

Video: Gary Fisher on Why eBikes are the Next Big Thing!

Thanks! I’m glad I’m not alone in this. I’m in the Netherlands right now and it’s clear that eBikes have really taken off here, but we are a long way from this penetration in the US. I do think certain cities have hope for this though. We have a lot more work to do though. This makes me happy...
