Greetings from a new member in...Zambia

I haven't put Mr. Tuffy in my my Super Moto-X tires, at least not yet. I've only got the Flat-out in the tires. I've got over 3500 km on the tires now with no flats, but that doesn't really prove anything. I'm seriously thinking about poking a needle through my tire to see what happens. The...

My Super Moto-X tires kinda suck in the dirt,.. I got stuck in a rut and the tire couldn't climb out, but the only thing that really matters to me is not getting a flat. The Schwalbe Pick-up tires appear to be more off-road capable than my tires, and they are the highest rated for puncture...

Greetings from a new member in...Zambia

I remember reading here on the forum somewhere that I wasn't using my Tannus inserts properly. I was supposed to let the air out of the tires after every ride and suspend the bike so it isn't sitting on flat tires, then re-inflate the tires before the next ride. That's how you prevent the...

If you're OK with shopping on ebay, I found this axle set that Actually IS solid core...

I don't feel safe about this....

It's hard to tell if you've got a metric or SAE axle, but I found a couple axles on modern bike,.. The regular cup and cone solid axle is quite cheap,..

I don't feel safe about this....

I took my skewer apart,.. If it were me, I'd delete the springs and go with a longer axle. There's room inside the "skewer nuts" to accommodate an axle that's a bit longer than the dropout spacing. The only issue with deleting the springs, is that the skewer won't self align for easy...

Check for "Lawyer Lips" on your new fork and make sure that you accommodate for them with your axle length,.. Looking at that picture now,.. Make sure that the spring has somewhere to go without binding or getting squashed by the new longer axle. I think there's space up inside the QR...

I don't feel safe about this....

I do remember seeing those now. I was looking for a completely solid axle like from the olden days. I figure that even if a completely solid axle has copper, lead, tin, glass, and maybe the burnt remains of some rodents in the mix from the blast furnace, it's still gonna be stronger than a...

I don't feel safe about this....

That looks good to me. They are not solid axles though so you get to use your QR rod through it. If you use the rear axle, you can cut it to length to get the maximum dropout support. That's just because they're in a cage. You can fit more in without a cage. Get the whole kit and you...

I don't feel safe about this....

That's Better !!! It's not just a spacer, it supports the whole wheel. My front wheel is supported by 5 or 6mm of a hollow axle with threads cut into it. If a coarser thread was used, the threads would probably cut right through the "pipe"?

I don't feel safe about this....

I am,.. The hardened steel axle with the flats on both sides makes an AWESOME Tap with a dozen cutting edges to cut into the aluminum frame, AND The hardened built in torque arm. My wheel gets jammed into the dropouts and I have to rotate the axle to "unlock" it from the "threads" that it's...

I don't feel safe about this....

It just amazes me that they work at all on any bike. My friend in Gr. 7 got a 10-speed for his birthday with QR axles. The rear axle broke within a week. (We were of course bombing through forest trails on our 10-speeds like kids will do.) His parents were Pissed!! It cost another $30-$40 to...

I don't feel safe about this....

I remember checking McMaster for an axle. I didn't think of regular screws and bolts. I did find hardened steel threaded rod, but it was something like $30 for each rod. I realized that axles use a different thread pitch with finer thread and regular nuts don't fit. Something like hardened bolts...

All I can think of are these on a solid axle,.. It's sort of quick release ?? Maybe someone can link you to a longer hollow QR axle? I didn't have much luck finding anything.

How much difference do street tires make compared to knobbies

Maybe you can pedal your ebike unpowered to see what it feels like, then swap tires. Especially with your old tires set at minimum pressure. I know that I could sure feel the difference in effort on my pedal bike. The difference is hidden when you've got a powered ebike, except for the...

    Cycling Classic Helmet Visor Brim

I'm hoping that I can move my helmet around on my head a bit to adjust the visor angle? Maybe I'll attach it with velcro so I can adjust it? I've got bolts holding my visor on now, and the replacement has snaps that are going to have to be removed anyway.

I don't feel safe about this....

I noticed that on my e-bike with QR,.. This is just plain stupid. A hollow axle supported on either end my 2mm of threaded axle,.. Why aren't aluminum frame spec'ed QR axles commonly available by now?? I decided to buy a solid axle to replace the short axle that is spec'ed for metal frames...

    Legal? Hybrid ebike.

The EU1000I puts out 900 Watts for 3 hours. That's 2700 Watt Hours for a tank of gas. My 48 Volt 25ah battery is 1200 Watt hours. So for the same weight, the EU1000I has ~the same power to weight ratio as two of my batteries. BUT,.. Gas stations are everywhere. It can be a lot harder to...
