Right To Repair/Modify, Who Owns Your Bike?

I do. I voided my warranty the day both my e-bikes arrived, then I gave the first one a brain transplant,.. There's still a glitch in that it won't go over 32 kph, but I don't want it to anyway. My new e-bike goes 43 kph, but I set it to 32. It's definitely my own creation,.. I'm happy...

Right To Repair/Modify, Who Owns Your Bike?

Samsung stopped using replaceable batteries shortly after the S5 that I had. They started soldering them into the phone like IPhone.

Right To Repair/Modify, Who Owns Your Bike?

If that were me, I'd simply disconnect the cells from all the electronics and install my own BMS.

Right To Repair/Modify, Who Owns Your Bike?

I bought two used Samsung S5 phones back in the day. One had a dead/cracked screen for $100 and the other was dead from getting soaked for $50. I put the two phones together and saved a few hundred dollars. I also learned how to do the work myself. That's not half the battle. It's half the fun.

    Yamaha Leaving US Market

Getting back on topic,.. I think the reason Yamaha Is Leaving US Market is simply because America has a 30 mph speed limit and a 750 Watt (nominal) power limit. Canada 🇨🇦 has a 20 mph speed limit and 500 Watt (nominal) power limit. That's just too much power for a Bosch motor to deal with, and...

    Yamaha Leaving US Market

They make hammer drills too. My dad had this replaced two times within the one year warranty, and they said No More,.. He gave it to me because the first two didn't last a month. I don't use the hammer setting. That's what kills it. It'll last forever if I don't use it, or only drill...

    Battery recharge with dynamos?

I had the whole kit when I was a kid,.. I'd reach down and press the button and it would spring load onto the tire. I had to grab the dynamo by hand to rotate it off the tire until it clicked to turn it off. I only ever tried to shut it off once while I was riding. 😂 That generator...

    Rear Brake linereplacement

Shrink tube works well to connect the brake lines together. They also have double walled shrink tube with glue for a stronger connection. (But it can be hard to remove the glue afterwards.)

    Good uses for walk mode

Some of the new e-bikes allow you to adjust the walk mode speed setting. "Jog mode" can still be useful to ride the e-bike at the set speed, even if your feet are on the ground to "walk" the bike as you're seated. Walk mode on my hub-drive e-bike is the same speed regardless of the weather...

Inner tubes. Our friend AND enemy.

I bought a gauge to check my spoke tension,.. It's not a "Park Tool" but it is pretty good quality where the scale can be adjusted to compensate for spring sag over time. A loose spoke is easy to hear with the obvious rattle, but I don't know what a properly tensioned spoke is supposed...

    c02 Inflator Question

That doesn't look like it uses CO2 cartridges? (Like all CO2 inflators that I'm aware of.) It looks like it's refillable and you need to refill it after you use it? I have no idea how that is done?

What's the difference between M6 and M8 Julet and Higo connectors

I ordered some stuff. I measured my connectors, and I have M8 size plugs. I bought two 48 VDC relays to get free shipping,.. I will have be careful when working with them to stay out of the line of fire. 😂 I don't know if it's safe at the zero line either ?? Perhaps somewhere...

What's the difference between M6 and M8 Julet and Higo connectors

OK, That makes sense. I'm guessing Battery + and - Data In and Out with a common ground for the Data wires? Is that right? I'm still gunna buy a green connector because I like to fix stuff that ain't broke. 😂 I've got all the other colors except for blue because I have no 4 pin...

What's the difference between M6 and M8 Julet and Higo connectors

This is a post by @harryS ,.. IT's usually 5 wires to an LCD display, or 5 pins on a connector. Carefully probe all possible wire pairs on those pins. You said you already done this, . Gotta be battery voltage on one pair. If not, well then there is something wrong with the controller, I'm...

    Cursed by the E-bike gods

Your right. It's made for steel forks that are half as thick. I see no reason why a longer axle isn't Standard Issue with an aluminum fork? Aluminum is a lot softer than steel, and the axle chews it up really good,..

    Cursed by the E-bike gods

I'm posting some pictures of my QR axle with skewer for reference sake. My threaded axle is not as wide as the dropout. I think that you've got the same sort of thing going on with your wheel?? I have no idea why you are supposed to install the races and bearings though? My wheel came...
