Need help on final choice of first ebike

The Administrators will not be pleased wit this , but I suggest you look into buying a well known premium brand demo model from Crazy Lenny.. For the same money. And you shouldn't buy any ebike until you've demo'd a few of them...even if its not the model you end up buying.

Need help on final choice of first ebike

Hi, have you ridden these bikes? FLX doesn't look street legal, throttle speed is 25 mph, pedal assist is 40? mph... Is that bafang mid drive reliable? https://electricbikereview.com/flx/trail/...

Popular Mechanics list of "best" electric bikes

This seems like a review of European Ebikes.. I expect more from Popular mechanics, but who knows how much they pay for these spec articles? Wonder if Court wrote a spec article if PM or PS or some hobby magazine would pick it.. He is much more fluent in all the styles and models than this...

    Where to get parts?

And that's why the import export business is extremely lucrative.. I'm a little surprised there isn't some Haibike eBike dealer in the US who doesn't stock piece parts...

    Where to get parts?

Aluminum bolts sound like a very special item.. There are fastener companies in the US, but you would need to know the size and thread (Coarse, fine, x fine), and you have to buy a bunch! http://www.fastener-express.com/aluminum-fasteners-nuts-washers.aspx (Link Removed - No Longer Exists)

    The new Stromer ST5

Looks like a nice bike.. Still don't appreciate how this is a marked improvement over the ST2.. Looks sleek and integrated but we are splitting hairs here with the ST2. I went and checked.. the ST5 is really a no cost upgrade from the ST2 S, which was also close to $10,000... Looking at it that...

Stromer ST1 Limited 3-Year Recap + Good Accessories

ST1 is the Toyota Camry of Ebikes.. Dead reliable. and does everything well. I had mine for 3000 miles, and except for the original battery wonking out the first day, it ran perfect. Wasn't happy about battery aging faster than expected (down over 20% first 2 years) but who knows why... Never...

Okay, talk me out of cancelling my CCS order

IT is hard to judge the premium price for the premium ebikes, unless you ride the cheaper one then the premium brand. I've done this more than once, and the premium bike was always worth it to me.. Then it became a matter of buying that bike at the lowest possible price. I've ridden the CCS...

Who has had premature drivetrain failures with a Mid drive ?

When it comes to chains, especially on mid drives you're suppose to measure stretch every so often, like 3 months, and replace it before it fails or skips...

Who has had premature drivetrain failures with a Mid drive ?

good question.. You should create a poll.

    Loose spokes?

Good luck and have fun! IF your dealer is installing the wheel, ask him to show you that the spokes are tightened properly; this will ensure he actually checks the spokes and you will know what normal feels like.. If this is an mail order deal, ride it for a week then take it to a bike shop and...

    Distance per charge? Nuances?

That is a good question and I hope there is a detailed article in Battery University.. Maybe one of our admins would like to post, like Court? Throttle only bikes rarely get close to their advertised range; mostly a joke. These are facts you should remember regardless of your actual range: 1...

Mate.bike + serious accident on first ride and the weirdest reaction from the company

They treated you horribly.. Shows they do not have the resources to hire and keep competent staff.

Mate.bike + serious accident on first ride and the weirdest reaction from the company

Looks like someone tightend the nut on the tip of the fork, rather than seating the nut into the "lawyer" indent, causing the irregular wear pattern.

Mate.bike + serious accident on first ride and the weirdest reaction from the company

Ana I'm glad you've recovered and hope you can get back to biking soon, on a more trusted brand Do you now think you know what happened? Did any of the parts actually fail, or did they just come loose?

    Possible downside to speed pedelec / class 3 / 28 MPH ?

Good info dude! That is a very high average speed, even if you don't have stop signs or dogs...

Mate.bike + serious accident on first ride and the weirdest reaction from the company

Sorry dude but respectfully disagree.. Ana only rode her bike 20 km. If the quick release skewer was installed, adjusted and the lever fully pressed down, there is no way that nut would come lose in 20 km from braking or vibration. I made this mistake when I was 13 years old, and I did it on...

Poll: Do you wear a helmet when riding

It really boggles the mind that any adult would go riding without a helmet. And children should be reminded so many times that it becomes habit.

    Possible downside to speed pedelec / class 3 / 28 MPH ?

OIC. Giant must figure that a trail bike doesn’t need to reach 28 mph. That’s actually pretty common I’ve been looking at the Evo motion trail bikes and they are all linked to 20 mph Power just cuts out at 20 mph I guess

    Possible downside to speed pedelec / class 3 / 28 MPH ?

I would love the option of hitting 28 mph on an ebike... Sure, your range will take a severe hit, but so what? If you need more range, just reduce the pedal assist level, or don't pedal as fast, and keep your speed around 20 mph.
