    Which way would you go?

If just changing chainring, the chain goes halfway around the chainring so you halve the difference in teeth, err on the side of longer just in case.... If swapping the biggest gear on the cassette, you can get fancy by adjusting chain length to get ideal derailieur angle - then stuff it up and...

    Which way would you go?

That's why he needs either a 30 or 32 chainring - even number of teeth so the narrow / wide remains in sequence with his chain When he drops from 44 to 30 , he needs to remove "7" links from his existing chain , which is actually going to need to be 6 links If he then finds one end of his...

    Which way would you go?

Ah, got it - you have 44T chainring and want to reduce from 6 to 4 mph ( 30%) - so drop the chainring by 30% , ie try a 30 T if you are certain you never use the fastest 2 gears, or a 32 if you might be wrong.

    Tube vs. Tubeless on ebikes

A couple of things from your post - don't assume goop coming out at the valve is getting out at the vale - sometimes it can be coming from further away, tracking inside the rim cavity and then escaping. eg is that a scratch in the tape ( left red circle) is that a folded lip on your valve...

Brand new tire blew off the rim

AND our step through has tubes , comfortable seat, high bars - just like yours. I'm pretty sure you'd also notice the difference between my giant fugly and the special SL - in fact, I suspect you'd really like fugly - she's a comfortable ego free ride. I checked - tannus with tube both ends on...

    Tube vs. Tubeless on ebikes

Wander into you local Doc and grab yourself some suture material NOW . Not only does it help with a sidewall slice, it's really good fun to take out when your mate is bleeding.

    Tube vs. Tubeless on ebikes

Take a closer look at the mtb tyre - 4 layers of carcass AND the knobs - those knobs typically have a stiffer central compound and sticky / soft outer layer, so it's really 2 extra layers. The advertising dept hasn't bothered using pretty colors, because they are showing the EXO section, which...

    Tube vs. Tubeless on ebikes

AND you can then squirt that into the next tyre

    Tube vs. Tubeless on ebikes

I'm really struggling with your 6 month tyre change concern. Do you actually re use a tyre that has been used for 6 months then left on a shelf for 6 months? Aren't they shredded after 6 months? Or losing traction after another 6 months in storage? Fresh tyres are cheaper than hospital bills

    Tube vs. Tubeless on ebikes

Tubes also need replacing - with the type of riding we do, they ball up . Ie the movement between them and the tyre develops little balls of rubber both inside the tube and between the tyre / tube. If by some miracle you manage 6 months without a pinch flat, the tubes are junk. ps - tannus...

Brand new tire blew off the rim

I couldn't care less about the alleged lower pressure on tubeless - in fact, I'd argue that tannus armor + tubes can be run at lower pressure than tubeless - at least with the sort of riding I do ( rocky mtb ) The reason I prefer tubeless is the quality of the ride -I've used same tyre, same...

    Tube vs. Tubeless on ebikes

The sealant needs replacing every 6 months, so chances are there would be minimal mess .

    Tube vs. Tubeless on ebikes

I'm embarrassed to admit I can't remember. Definitely tubeless in the levo sl But the giant? I had tannus, but think I replaced one or both of them with tubeless It's not easy to keep track when you have to keep up with the family fleet ( 6 regular bikes, 2 ebikes, and 2 motorbikes )

Is it safe to freely use the throttle WHILE PEDALING on a mid drive?

Today I walked an enjoyable 2 hours through the local mtb park. The dog loved it - we've had her a month and she has almost grasped the idea of sticking to the trails . Hopefully she will be able to join us on a mtb ride soon . No idea how much energy I used , but it was a lovely relaxing...

Is it safe to freely use the throttle WHILE PEDALING on a mid drive?

You raise an interesting point and I'd love to hear from any full throttlers with adequate strava points - can you use the throttle to correct a bikes orientation in the air like on a motorbike? My uneducated guess would be that it's unlikely - the wheel and motors are too light. But perhaps...

Is it safe to freely use the throttle WHILE PEDALING on a mid drive?

Even the average toddler has the skill to ride a balance bike without using pedals .

Brand new tire blew off the rim

Gotta admit, i've had variable results tubeless - admittedly this is 4/5 peoples bikes over a 6 year period . The first was a nightmare - initial installation by lbs, at least 3 hours trying to get a reliable result myself overthe following month, then another 2 hours at the shop where I learnt...

Brand new tire blew off the rim

I'm not certain, but I think 60 psi is approaching the RIM limit? There is a chart here https://www.dtswiss.com/pmt/00/00/00/00/00/00/00/10/00/00/00/86/6/MAN_WXD10000000866S_WEB_ZZ_001.pdf

Is it safe to freely use the throttle WHILE PEDALING on a mid drive?

I was pointing out walk mode is simply a poor quality throttle. You seem to struggle to accept specialized do something badly? Australia is a small market, we allow throttles but restrict the output to 200 w and ( I think) 20 k. , then " full power" 250 whatevers up to 25 k. So we have...
