Upgrading Vado SL Shimano Drivetrain From 10 to 12-speed

I thought you were looking into gaerbaruk? Yes, you can get them to fit the HG hub, and I think they even do a 10 tooth hg compatible ( I'm too lazy to go out and count what's on my lsl) It's at least 400 gms lighter than the sram nx, but more importantly, it's really hard to get perfect...

To the "Karens", and the "Carls" out there😂 Those riding dirty too.

In that case - I've got a polish part on my specialized! Awesome cassette - an absolute work of art, machined to perfection, ultralight and so far lasting better than the "american "sram boat anchor it replaced - it it saved a LOT of unsprung weight ! ( about 400 gms!)

To the "Karens", and the "Carls" out there😂 Those riding dirty too.

Pitty , because you'd find a decent ebike a LOT more capable than an XL 150 ! These might be the laws in your little corner , but there is a whole wide world of opportunity out there - including mystical places where the government BUILDS emtb trails on public land. AND other places where...

Fancy Soft or hard shell armor (possibly with airbag?) for ebike rider (20-30mph)

I've watch a mate slide down the road in their darien suit, he was on the wrong side of 100 k and escaped without a scratch! Great gear.

    Electric Car thread

Unfortunately a few years away from Australia , and possibly a bit bigger than I want. I currently use a ford ranger for dragging the boat and dislike the relatively long wheelbase / turning circle. We live rural, but some tighter 4x4 tracks are hard to negotiate

    Electric Car thread

BTW , I'm back here again trying to see if there is an EV yet that can tow a 2 tonne boat up a ramp then 50 metres to where it is parked. But not be some massive ego statement

    Electric Car thread

Someone is confused. If a 2 yo vehicle on finance costs more than a new one, there are explanations that make a LOT more sense than the sales guys fuzzy logic: Used prices were elevated due to supply issues and the moron still hasn't caught up? Or, more likely, manufacturer / govt...

    Hot grips?

You can always put on extra clothing to deal with the cold, but there's only so much you can remove in the heat. I try and avoid hard riding over 40 c

    Hot grips?

Search for universal motorcycle grip heater pad. They are elements on a mylar tape that you put under the grips, when you put 12 v across them they get hot, so on the motorbikes we usually run a 2 stage switch / resister for low setting. I imagine a more sophisticated dial would be better...

New Jersey Would Be Foolish To Require E-Bike Insurance & Registration

Two interesting points. I'd like to challenge the first , but explore the second. This may be a cultural thing, but I find young people CAN make good choices / act responsibly if they are encouraged to do so. There's no magical age of responsibility, and in my experience delaying the process...

Fancy Soft or hard shell armor (possibly with airbag?) for ebike rider (20-30mph)

I've got a selection of both motorbike and mountain mike armour, and my motorbike protection ranges between hard core dirt protection and convenient dual sport bump resistance. My advice is sit down and have a REALY good think about what you're trying to achieve , then come back with your...

    Dutch Police not messing about.

True wilderness is still a no go over here in Aus , but we can ride anywhere a mountain bike can - because we are legally bikes. Our govt are even spending public $ cutting tracks on govt land because our tourism potential has been recognised. I'd go so far as to suggest these tracks are...

The 8 Best Electric Mountain Bikes of 2024 [Apparently]

Editorial and advertising made a bet, or was it a practical joke for the work experience student? Right now, someone is running around the office naked with a blow up sex toy taped to their nether regions. How much did they pay you, aushiker ?

    Dutch Police not messing about.

It would also be a mistake to think US police haven't already started looking for ways to detect illegal ebikes. This is an interesting article, https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10372360/. They state ebike accidents are on the rise / mopeds are not, yet figure 2 almost looks...

    Dutch Police not messing about.

The rest of the world sees your post in a very different light to how you think it appears. But I'll happily be described as being on a moral high horse - that implies I'm considering the morality, and to be completely clear , thankyou. As for the Karen reference, this may be a cultural...

    Dutch Police not messing about.

The dutch community decided last century to take cycling safety seriously, and now have one of the worlds best safety records for both cycling and vehicle accidents. We should take notice of what they do and respect it, and perhaps you could do a little bit of self reflection on your own...

This is not good, and its my fault

I have a much more compact rotor straightening tool, it's a thin piece of platinum coloured plastic, about $40 each time I use it

This is not good, and its my fault

I'd love to know where to find these mystical objects. ALL brake rotors will warp if you rapidly heat then cool them. Try a 500 m black descent followed by a few creek crossings on a hot day.

Now I'm confused, the duke isn't a dual sport. Aaaaah, I see , it IS a duel sport

    Great plan, poor execution

On a slightly more helpful note, have you considered one of the enclosed chain washing tools but running a solvent that will leave a residue ? I'm thinking that even if you carefully wash both sides, the important parts of the chain are still going to have salt / rust formation. Maybe split...
