My experience with my new Vado 4.0 (2020)

Great choice milehighguy. I too am 66 years (for another couple of weeks) and purchased the same 2020 Turbo Vado 4.0 around the same time you did, with the same discount, and have about the same number of miles on the odometer. This was my 2nd ebike, as I already own a 2018 Trek Super Commuter...

    Saddle

Hi Alaskan. Thank you for posting such extensive information. Based on your recommendation I thought I would give the Selle Anatomica H2 a go for the 2020 Specialized Vado 4.0 I have on order, especially since it was on sale. Since I really like having a Kinekt 2.1 suspension seatpost on my...

Rate the Stems (or grips and handlebars) - suspension and adjustable

Hi Alaskan. I have the Kinekt 2.1 seatpost on my 2018 Trek Super Commuter +7, and have ordered the Kinekt suspension stem on their Kickstarter early bird program, which still has about a week to run. Wondering if they are ordering any parts from China and if so, if the production will be...

    R&M 2020 bikes

Court: I've watched plenty of reviews of ebikes online, and can honestly say, none that I have seen are as objective and informative as yours are. I don't own a R&M ebike, I own a 2018 Trek SC7 and would love to see a review of the Trek 2020 Allant+ line, or at least a couple of their models...

    Trek Super Commuter 7 - $3599

If you look on the Cirrus Cycles website (from my link above) it will recommend what springs are correct based upon your weight. The stiffest springs they offer (other than the XL) are "Orange" and if I remember correctly, those are for riders weighing 200 - 250 lbs. That is what I bought and...

    Trek Super Commuter 7 - $3599

I chose the longer seat post for my 2018 55cm SC7. It is an e-bike so the added weight for a little extra length won't hurt, worst case you could probably cut excess off with a pipe cutter if it were too long. I recommend that you pull out your original seat post, measure it, and order one as...

    Trek Super Commuter 7 - $3599

I am happy to hear you are enjoying your SC7. The single best upgrade (IMO) is a suspension seatpost. I put a Kinekt 2.1 on my bike and it was a game changer. They are expensive, but something you should be able to move forward onto your next e-bike as well...

    Trek Super Commuter 7 - $3599

Just a quick update. I took my 2018 Trek Super Commuter +7 into Trek Midtown Sacramento last week and had them update to the latest Bosch software. They also input that I was running a 20t sprocket, activated the "walk" mode and activated the "lights on/off" feature.

    Trek Super Commuter 7 - $3599

In addition to the major savings, I went with the Class 1 SC +7 instead of the Class 3 SC 8 because I commute to work on the American River Bike Trail where Class 3 e-bikes are not allowed.

    Trek Super Commuter 7 - $3599

Regarding a throttle, the Super Commuter +7 doesn't have one, but it does have the Bosch Performance Line Drive which is "Class 1" and is allowed on most bike trails. Iv'e been riding it for about 9 months and don't miss having a throttle. As far as off road riding, it is a commuter bike with...

    Trek Super Commuter 7 - $3599

Hey Velome. Does the box you have affect the Purion display (ie. distance, MPH, range and etc.)? Does the system throw any error messages?

    Trek Super Commuter 7 - $3599

Thanks for the feedback. My issue was with the stock gearing. Since most of my riding is done on the Sacramento American River Bike trail, with a posted 15 mph speed limit (which most riders don't obey), and where Class 1 e-bikes are legal (Class 3's are not), I am already pushing it at 19.5...

    Trek Super Commuter 7 - $3599

For anyone interested, I have attached the Sprocket Teeth / Speed / Cadence chart I prepared to determine what effect on speed and cadence changing the stock 18 tooth sprocket to a 20 tooth sprocket would have. This allows me to ride at a comfortable cadence (80+- rpm) at just under the pedal...

    Trek Super Commuter 7 - $3599

Just an update to an earlier post. I finally changed out my front sprocket from the stock 18T to a 20T and hit the 19.5 mph at 80 cadence I was looking for. I prefer this gearing. Rode 27.5 miles today with no issues, and no error messages! Set the tires to 40 psi (temp was 77), and liked...

    Trek Super Commuter 7 - $3599

As you can see, it is a matter of personal preference, I would recommend riding at different pressiures to find what works for you. After riding road bikes for 25 years at 110 -120 psi, I am probably more used to a firm ride. I may try a little less pressure myself to see how I like it. I...

    Trek Super Commuter 7 - $3599

Tire pressure depends on a lot of variables. Your weight, road or trail conditions, outside temperature, handling preference, if you have a suspension seatpost and etc.. I weigh 200, ride on fairly good paved roads/trails, live in No. Cal where my riding temps range between 50 and 90 degrees...

    Trek Super Commuter 7 - $3599

Hey Luv2ride: Thanks for the input, I am going to change out the existing 17T front sprocket on my 2018 SC+7 to a 19T (or 20T) once a Bosch chainring tool I ordered arrives.

    Trek Super Commuter 7 - $3599

Still no reply from Bosch USA, but I am waiting for a chainring tool I ordered, and will change the front sprocket to a 19T (or 20T) when it arrives. Since most of my riding (about 95%) is on the American River Bike Trail in Sacramento where Class 1 ebikes are legal, I am not looking for higher...
