    Hand signals

I bicycle in busy Urban & Downtown areas around Montreal. There’s no doubt a hand signal left when passing parked vehicles or crossing the traffic to turn left is important. Right turn, I do sometimes but generally I tuck myself across to the RHS, slow down and turn right. Since we have lots of...

Just seen this on another post (missed it before) but as stated by the Poster, a US resident, it depends on yr State

    Hand signals

The left hand up (North America) is just like a letter L where your elbow is the angle. The hand signals are used mainly at junctions or to change lanes. The purpose of the straight on signal, as Mart mentions in Britain, is to let the traffic in front of you know that you are proceeding...

    Hand signals

Ahh thanks Mart, i thought that was the case. I think your correct, signals that are not well understood are probably dangerous. I saw one in the Quebec guide, left hand down indicating “I’m slowing down”. Understandably it states “rarely used”…..not that Quebec drivers would understand “slowing...

    Hand signals

I live in Quebec in Canada so the rules may be different in other countries. But still curious about your rules. We cycle on the RHS. According to Quebec rules, a left arm held out indicates moving or turn left. A left hand held up, elbow bent or the right arm held out is turn right. This is...

    Ramp to basement

Well it helps to be a Scrooge, :-)) I hate spending money.

    Ramp to basement

Yes my thoughts in adding the blue strap. A bit like automation, great when it works but you can be in a real mess when it doesn't. I envisaged scrambling inside in a monster downpour and not being so careful, and have the ramp judder across the floor and end up with a bike tangled up around my...

    Rize RX, battery charging

OK thanks Solom01, I'll make an effort to un-plug when the battery charged. They're not cheap, well worth preserving.

    Rize RX, battery charging

I have searched the Forum but don't see this issue addressed, which means its probably a non-issue. The Manual states "Remove the charger from the battery within one hour after it has been completely charged. The charger will automatically stop charging when the battery is full, however...

    Which brake first?

Interesting discussion. But I remember being told always apply the front first and I think, the logic is that the weight and forces are then vectored forwards, including you pressing down on the handle bar, applying a lot more weight onto the front wheel, thereby giving the front tire much more...

    Which brake first?

This seems like a very basic question but curious about your opinion. There’s a YOUTUBE video supposedly posted by Rize, talking about the correct braking technique on Rize eBikes. The young lady confidently states you should brake with the rear brake most of the time and add the front brake if...

    Rize RX valves

I’ve always hand pumped the tyres til the felt right but with the wide tires on the RIZE RX, I understand you can add quite a lot of extra drag by incorrect inflation. I’m going for the convenience of a food pump with built in gauge, you can get them for $20 in Canadian Tire.

    Rize RX valves

Thanks Kevin, I was thinking of getting a floor standing pump because I am getting the impression good tire pressure is fairly important for a smooth ride and battery energy conservation.

    Rize RX valves

My Rize RX is on order but won’t see it until September. I was under the illusion that the RIZE RX 2021 had tubeless tires, maybe simply because the marketing pictures don’t show any valves. But looking at a few videos of the RX 2020, I can see that’s not the case. So I‘m wondering what valves...

    Rize RX vs Dost Kope?

Many of the components are identical, the gears, brakes, I think the frame, and the motor is the same manufacturer, just Rize uses the most recent version. And if u configure them the same you’ll pay quite a bit more for the Dost. I took the keep and order Rize RX 2021.

    Ramp to basement

I'm new to eBikes, I have to wait a month for the delivery of a Rize RX 2021. The issue is where to store the eBike. I don't have a garage but am quite used to humping my regular 30pound hybrid bike down steep steps into the basement. But I can imagine that it won't be so easy with a 70 pound...

    Rize RX vs Dost Kope?

I’ve always serviced my bike in the past so I’m planning to do as much as possible myself. I’m new to ebikes, this will be my first although I’ve rented Jump & Bixi eBikes. I was a little concerned about the electronics but the more I read, the more I learn that the whole configuration is...
