    58.8v Charger Adjustment?

I was flying R/C aircraft back when LiPo batteries first came into being. Lot of idiots caught their cars/homes on fire due to not setting chargers correct, hence a whole industry arose selling fireproof sleeves and cases to put your batteries in while charging. I never had an issue, but then...

    58.8v Charger Adjustment?

Yup. I have a 2amp charger that came with the kit I put on the Townie, which seems to be a decent charger (unlike the maple leaf thing). I'll use that mostly, but the 4a will be used when I am camping, as where we camp, we use a generator for power. The quicker I can charge while on the...

    58.8v Charger Adjustment?

Honestly, I wasn't paying attention. I wanted a 4a charger to replace the crappy one that came with my kit, and found this one on Amazon. One of the top reviews said it worked great for his 48v packs, so I ordered it. When I got it today, and saw it was 58.8v, I realized what I had done...

    58.8v Charger Adjustment?

Yes, I'm aware of not charging it fully, although my plan is to let the battery run down quite a bit before charging. I know from building drones and R/C planes, it is not good to leave the battery charged 100% all the time, and I assume Li-Ion packs are the same as Li-Po.

    58.8v Charger Adjustment?

Did some research, and it seemed like trim pot VR2 adjusted the voltage, so I got my meter out, and turned it down to 54.6v. I assume that I should be good to go now?

    58.8v Charger Adjustment?

I purchased a 58v 4a charger on Amazon thinking it would charge my 48v packs. This seems like too much voltage for a 48v pack, even though there was mentions of it working fine for 48v in the reviews. I know some of these chargers have adjustable output voltages, usually via a trim pot...

I put them on to replace the ring terminals. Colors didn't matter to me.

    2nd Ebike Conversion Questions

I cannot pull them apart, and seem to be fused shut. My guess is, when I replaced the ring terminals with the Andersons, I did not get that one crimped well. I did have issues, as the only crimper I have is for Molex trifurcon connectors (I do pinball repair). Anyways, the wire looked fine...

    2nd Ebike Conversion Questions

Problem solved. Checked over all the plugs again, and noticed one of the motor phase plugs looked a bit shiny. Went to unplug it, and it wouldn't budge. I cut the plug off, as well as the others, and soldered them. Works fine now.

    2nd Ebike Conversion Questions

Well, I thought I had everything sorted, but still having motor issues. Did fine for about the first 5 minutes or so, then started acting up. When this happens, the throttle will not start the wheel moving on it's own, as you can see in the video below. Does the same thing on pedal assist as...

    2nd Ebike Conversion Questions

Well, I seem to be an idiot. I looked more closely at where the brake assembly mounts to the frame, and low and behold, you can loosen the screws, and side the whole thing a bit. I now have the rotor in the middle of the pads. I also sent CSC a msg to see whether I need to program anything...

    2nd Ebike Conversion Questions

I see what you mean, however, the caliper is not interfering with the motor. I may add another washer there to move everything a bit to the right.

    2nd Ebike Conversion Questions

Success! The manual that came with the kit does not mention any settings beyond the initial ones, so I did not know there were additional C and P settings. Found the full manual online, so now I should be good. I set C1 to 4, and the PAS is working now. I am concerned though that it might not...

    2nd Ebike Conversion Questions

After the success of the Townie conversion, I figured I would convert my mountain bike, a Schwinn Taff. I ordered a CSC 1000 watt 29" rear wheel conversion kit, and the install went well with a couple of exceptions. First off, this kit has the 3 ring terminals for the motor wires, and a big...

    Townie Ebike Conversion Wiring Question

Decided to design and print me an adapter to better hold the battery. Seems to work good, although I did get my angles a bit off, but I had no issues on a trail ride yesterday!

    S830 pedal assist question.

I have the thumb throttle as well.

    S830 pedal assist question.

I agree! I can live with it, but one thing that does get me is the throttle is very sensitive. Almost like it goes from 0% to 75%, and then to 100%. Seems that is an issue on most of these though.

    S830 pedal assist question.

Yeah, I can turn it down to one, and it's not bad. I like to use pedal assist, but just thought if I have it set to 0, then it should give no assist, but still let me use the throttle. Not really a big deal to be honest.

    S830 pedal assist question.

I'm trying to dial in my setup, which uses the S830 display. One thing I can't figure out is if there is a way to turn off pedal assist, yet still have the throttle working. I know I can do it in the settings, but would like to do it on the fly, so to speak. I noticed I can move the assist...
