What mode do you ride in and why?

You are right, I did wear out the chain and 11t sprocket on my Vado the first year. That is why I ditched the chain and went with a belt and IGH. So far so good. The battery should last a reasonable amount. I bought the bike to use it, otherwise why bother with an e bike? I do use 40-80...

What mode do you ride in and why?

I mostly commute 10 miles rt on my Gazelle 380+ (Class 3) and I almost always run TURBO (the highest boost 4 of 4) on the road. In the morning I might let the bike do more work so I don't arrive sweaty and in the evening I will give normal effort and generally average between 20 and 25 MPH...

Charging Ebikes on EV Charging stations

All the chargers should work on either AC voltage but the output will be the same. The Level 2 J1442 chargers are 220 volts. I would have to look at the spec again but you might be able to tell them to use 110 but for a bike charger it won't make a difference.

Charging Ebikes on EV Charging stations

I have ebikes and an EV am on the EV side here. It's a neat hack if the charger is unused but bikes should defer to cars in this. Do you need to charge there or is it just free electricity? Especially with 2 batteries on your bike that's a lot of range. Ideally though they should add an...

Ultimate C380+ Water bottle cage location other than Seat Tube?

How often do you use the extra battery? I am toying with the idea but not sure I really need it. My wife's Trek uses the powerpack 400 so I wouldn't have to buy a new battery yet that I wouldn't use often.

Commuter Ebike for heavy rider (ended up choosing RR(Ride1UP Prodigy ST)

I sold my Turbo Vado 4 to a friend recently and he loves it. He's a larger sized guy and we chipped in and got him a nice bike a few years ago. He lost over 120 pounds. Then COVID happened and he found it. He also has a job about 11 miles away and was having trouble getting motivated to...

    Specialized Vado 4.0 - Beware

Mine was wearing out closer to 2k before I noticed it. I replaced the cassette, chain, and the front with a larger chainring. I went from the stock 40t to a 44t. The idea was that if I spent most of my miles commuting in turbo mode I would try to get a higher gear range and spread the wear...

Ultimate 380+ Belt Tension, is this too much slack?

Yeh I had the mic as close as I could get it as I saw on the videos. Is it worth getting a tool or just getting a feel for it and/or the +- 1 CM measurement? I will probably get it anyway, I never turn down and opportunity for a new tool I just question the need for a qualitative measurement...

Ultimate 380+ Belt Tension, is this too much slack?

I tightened a bit to where I remember it was when I got it. I tried the Gates tension app but I couldn't get good readings from it. It seems like the signal is too low.

Ultimate 380+ Belt Tension, is this too much slack?

Diving into the youtube I see that yes, it is probably too loose. Also how to adjust it (looks easy). And there is even a smartphone app from Gates to check proper tension.

Ultimate 380+ Belt Tension, is this too much slack?

I had a clunk in the drive after I was coasting to make a turn and then started pedaling again when turning. I didn't see anything wrong when I stopped and noticed the tension is a little more slack than I remember it was. I bought this about 10 days ago and I have about 200 miles on it now...

    regen braking need help

with a brushless motor it is just software, literally a negative force input and everything works backwards. but... the controller has to have the input somehow. yeh this is my second Volt and now that I commute by bike and previously telecommute I put one to two tanks of gas a year. generally...

    regen braking need help

Yeh I have only done some test rides on hub motor bikes and never tried regen so I was curious how it worked. some automatic, some 2 throttle, some switch, some brake with optional throttle to control amount when braking... on my Chevy Volt it is both automatic with the brakes or a switch on...

An easy and expensive mistake: Vado Battery Related

As others noted above besides for a common user error of putting the key an inch over to the charging port things like a staple on the magnetic plug has also caused this problem. Since it bricks a $900 battery that is a lot of warranty claims or really pissed off customers that could easily...

An easy and expensive mistake: Vado Battery Related

I think it did have a fuse to protect the batteries from shorting out. But once the fuse blew no more charging. For a few more cents they should have added a diode or some other protection circuit and avoided this problem.

An easy and expensive mistake: Vado Battery Related

I did this too. I like having the charger and the key on the left side (The Gazelle as them on the right hand side) but I did the same thing in the dark. I saw a spark and then noticed it wouldn't take a charge any more. I watched some youtube video taking the battery apart and it looked like...

Take a look at this site and see if you get any ideas on how to activate it. Also RTFM maybe they say how it is supposed to activate. https://ebikes.ca/learn/regen.html
