Of course. And that's the whole point. If there's lots of traffic you don't have the right of way and nothing changes from the current situation. But if it is safe to proceed you can make that choice for yourself as you say you do now in defiance of the law.

That's the whole point of the IS laws for me as it gives more freedom to the cyclist to be responsible for their own safety. Most accidents are at intersections and if you can safely get through them before the cars it is a win for everyone.

that is a common reply but meaningless. the laws are for those that will obey them. so disregarding people who disregard the law, I am more interested here in the laws and the people who follow them. there will always be those that ignore the law.

I don't think these days it is "women's" bike stigma for men to ride a step thru any more. I might have got the step thru when I got my Gazelle but 1) only the step over had room for a second battery if i want to add that later and 2) my LBS only had the step over in my size.
