I read this on reddit any truth to it? There's about 10% more friction with a belt than a chain drive at lower speeds. The belt itself might be lighter than a chain but if you want speeds you need a heavy internal hub, which negates the weight savings...

We like our Trek bike's (Navigator 2.0's) alot and have put many miles on them. Dragged them with us on every camping trip. They are just hybrid bikes. We got the two used Lectric bikes for fun (XP 2.0 step through and an XP Lite, but would never get rig of the Trek's.
