    Repeated Flats

Flats are enough to make me give up riding, so Tannus Armour might be a good investment for me.

    Repeated Flats

Sounds like you are riding mountain bikes. I'm riding on full width shoulders on major highways, and they are littered with junk. Going over the inside of a tire after a flat is obviously a good idea, but I think going over the outside of the tires the same way, after a ride, might also be a...

Thanks to everyone. This place, and the people who participate, and a priceless resource. Again, thank you...

    Repeated Flats

Yeah, lesson learned, the very hard way. I'm sixty, and have been riding since I was a child, and I've never had this happen. I've had flats, and have always just replaced the tube, and gone on my way, and never had a problem, until now.

    Repeated Flats

Okay, I found the problem. I removed the tire from the wheel, and I located a very tiny piece of very stiff wire sticking straight out, inside the tire. It was less than 1/4" long, and smaller in diameter than a sewing needle. I found it by touch. I could barely see it. In forty years of...

    Repeated Flats

I've heard people say that Slime can gum up the tire's valve?

    Repeated Flats

Slime has a 27.5" X 2.4" inner tube, with the sealant already in it. Sounds like it might be time to buy at least a couple of them! It there is a nail hole in the tire, do I need to be concerned with it? Could tire pressure inside the tube where the hole is cause a tube to develop a hole...

    Repeated Flats

The tires are rated for 55 PSI, and that's where I've run them, since mile 1. I don't overinflate them. The holes in all three tubes are in about the same place - in the center of the tread, almost halfway around the tire from the valve. And the holes are perfectly round - looks like a nail...

    Repeated Flats

I rode my Ride1Up 700 440 miles without a flat, then had one a few days ago, just as I got to work. I patched it at work, and it got me the twelve miles back home. But, the next morning, the same tire (rear) was flat again. The tire is a 27.5" X 2.4", but all I had was a 26" tube, but hey...

    Fixing a Flat

Now, that's cool - expensive, but cool!

    Fixing a Flat

After over 400 miles on my new Ride1Up 700, I had a rear tire flat today. No big deal, I thought. I was wrong. Luckily, I was yards from work, so I took the bike into my air conditioned work area. The bike has 27.5" x 2.4" Schwalbe puncture resistant tires. Breaking the bead from the wheel...

    Battery Balancing

That won't really hurt anything, if it only happens once in a great while. I always set a timer on my phone, for approximately how long I think the battery needs to charge, to reach about 50%, if I won't be riding soon. I do the same thing before a ride, for 70% to 80%, depending on how long I...

    A Word on Ride1UP Shipping

Perhaps our torque wrenches are calibrated differently. Go with what makes you comfortable. My last bike was a Giant Defy, and those bolts were labeled 6 nm, right on the bike. The Giant stem I bought to replace the one I damaged on my new 700 is labeled 5 nm.

The main ones are those four bolts that hold the faceplate to the stem. Most manufacturers list those as 5 to 6 newton-meters. The manual lists 8 to 10, which is too high for 4mm steel bolts into aluminum. I'd double check online on all of them as I went along, based on the size of the bolt...

That seems to be about the norm for them. They really shouldn't say an order has shipped when it hasn't, but frankly, eight days is pretty good, compared to some other sellers.

I did receive my bike a week after ordering. Since then, their support has been excellent. The listed torque specifications on the stem faceplate are way too high, and I damaged the faceplate as a result. I went to a bike shop and bought a new one, and Ride1Up reimbursed me, in full, without...

I've noticed that with eBay, but I've had good luck with eBay sellers. They almost always ship within 24 hours.

That makes sense. I just haven't ever run into it before. The thing that bothered me was that they said the order had "shipped" when it clearly had not. Also, based on the map on their website, they indicated that I would receive my order in four days - not eight. All it all, I felt...

    A Word on Ride1UP Shipping

I ordered a Ride1UP 700 this past Sunday evening. On Monday, I got an email saying it had "shipped". How exciting, right? Well, not so fast. With most things I've ever ordered, that means I'd be receiving my order in two or three days. With Ride1UP, "shipped" only means they've labeled your...

    Which Bicycle?

Thanks. I've spent quite a bit of time on the Ride1UP website, and have seen that. I had forgotten about it, though.
