    Vado 5.0 Anti-theft feature?

@TiburonScott Would you mind taking a look at the firmware level you are at with this bike - as it is brand new? Thinking of the display really - that might give us some clues as to what is going on. Mine is 12.4 I checked the specs again, and it is quite clear there is a display based...

Larger a chain Ring for Vado

I think you have hit the nail on the head - the part numbers are the key. I could find a Specialized chainring at double the price of the Deckas, but not from Specialized. I could not find a bashguard of the same type anywhere, I'm afraid - you may be luckier in the US with stocks there.

    Vado 5.0 Anti-theft feature?

Did you manage to get clarification on the anti-theft feature?

Larger a chain Ring for Vado

Having just completed the change of my Vado 4 chainring from 40T to 44T, I can empathise with your situation. I changed in order to move up the cassette as @Douglas Ruby has mentioned - I was operating on the bottom three cogs all the time. My LBS, who are normally very helpful, really did not...

Bought a Turbo Levo Hardtail yesterday but it keeps turning off!

If you want to do something yourself, take a look at: https://electricbikereview.com/forums/threads/2017-levo-switched-on-but-no-motor-power.33873/ There is a longer thread where some of us disussed the same issue - I bought the product Sierratim recommended, and it worked for me.

    Vado speed

I am really intrigued to hear the outcome of this story. I am still not sure which piece of software controls the maximum speed (ie) Display, Motor or Battery, or more than 1. I have no wish to travel any faster than I am here (25km/h) as a base speed, because of our infrastucture (or lack of) :).

    Chain ring tooth selection

The chainring bolts I used in the end were a bit long, so I fitted them and filed them back to the sleeve nut, then unscrewed them 2/3rds of the way, put loctite blue on the threads, and tightened them up again. By the way, I had to put 8 more links onto my chain whip to hold the chainring and...

    Chain ring tooth selection

For me at least, the long saga is over, and I attach a picture of the finished job. You can see I have fitted an after-market (FSA) 44T bashguard, and I reckon it looks OK - but I would, would I not :). The slightly annoying thing is that, with the tools recommended by TS25 and the very good...

    Chain ring tooth selection

For those interested in what my chainring progress is - here is an update. The Deckas 44T narrow-wide ring arrived today and it looks a quality item. Unfortunately, I do still have a bit of a hold-up, because the chainring bolts which came with it are not quite long enough for what I want to...

    Chain ring tooth selection

Well it looks like I might have to scratch this one off :(. With the Vado I only have one chainring, but when I saw Brose mentioned, I put 2 and 2 together and may have come up with 5. It is really frustrating waiting for this ring, and the Amazon link is connected to the same folks that I...

    Chain ring tooth selection

I am a bit downheartened because I cannot get a delivery update for my Deckas chainring . However, today I have found this chainring which seems to fit the bill - does anyone have any experience of the FSA product?

    Chain ring tooth selection

It is very good of you to look that manual up - I have downloaded it. It confirms the rule of largest sprocket and single chainring wrapround, plus 2 links, so I don't quite know why the other document is saying different. Thanks again :).

    Chain ring tooth selection

Thanks for that. I will take two before photos of the derailleur on the top and bottom cogs anyway, to help me in my decision making. I reckon you are correct in your assessment, but I will confirm when the chainring gets here. As I said, I have always used the first process, to check anyway...

    Chain ring tooth selection

I will be increasing my 40T to 44T, so the chain needs to be longer - that means I need to make a decision :). There is a speed link in the E8000 package (138L), which is good news. I have always used the "plus 2" with my mechanical bikes, and the suggestion of "plus 4" for a single chainring...

    Chain ring tooth selection

Just an update on where I am at this morning :). The tools and the "Rolls Royce" E8000 chain arrived over the week-end, and today - as I thought, all the parts came from Germany. All that is left is the chainring itself - coming from China, no less. I am beginning to understand why my LBS did...

    Chain ring tooth selection

Many thanks for that - it is 50Nm for the spider and the cranks. Should have checked that before  .

    Chain ring tooth selection

The locking ring tool did arrive this afternoon - first step :) . Looking at the video you posted, at around 18 mins elapsed time, it shows the spider and crank arm being re-attached. Is that a torque wrench the technician is using?

    Chain ring tooth selection

The problem I have here is that most of the 138L suppliers (even Amazon) are in Germany, so that postal charge bumps up the cost of an HG701, remembering that I cannot source an HG601 which is not 116L. Luckily (maybe) I've managed to find an open box CN-E8000 chain on Amazon this morning, so...

    Chain ring tooth selection

That is roughly what it will cost me, turning $ into £ with the tax here, only I will be substituting the two Brose tools for the labour charge. This is all a steep learning curve for me, with the crunch time ahead :).

    Chain ring tooth selection

Shaking the chain tree as I am at the moment, I have found this chain which is reckoned to be 50% sturdier than the HG701-11 and about the same price. https://www.highonbikes.com/products/shimano-cn-e8000-e-bike-11-speed-chain-quick-link-138l
