I used to have a set of hand grip plugs that had a big hard plastic disc on the end that I would always use on my mtb because they skipped off of trees and rocks instead of grabbing and pulling me into them. Bar ends do a similar job, tennis balls would be a bad idea.

It's so the manufacturers could push for PAS only on mountain bike trails, they think that there's less resistance to PAS than throttles.

If you're cooking your rotors in a single hill, you're seriously under braked for whatever reason, lots of weight, very steep hill, whatever. You should fare better with your new DH setup.

Variable psi is a good point. Finding the sweet spot for any specific tire for me can be just a few psi on a mtb tire and +/- 5 or so for me on the road. I'm kind of a nerd that way.

Add to the obvious questions: How does it ride in a cross wind? Even high profile rims turn into sails and make a windy ride fairly terrifying. I hope it's a very expressive gadget.... :p

The federal law states that is not a motor vehicle, not that it isn't motorized, there's a difference. I've never heard of a local park or agency that would question anyone with a disability on an ebike, even if they didn't consider them a OPMD, they don't want to get sued. The feds evidently...

The USFS doesn't consider ebikes to be OPMD, unfortunately, your placard wouldn't be of use, I'm not sure about the other agencies. I would expect it to change, since it's ridiculous...

Out of the 3 federal agencies that govern most of the public land in the west, the US Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management, the National Park Service is the most restrictive. You can ride bikes pretty much anywhere on USFS and BLM trails, National Parks are more on a case by case basis...

Where you plan on riding it will limit your options. It would be tough to get away with riding a Stealth on Class 1 legal trail for example.

The laws will have to change, they're not the best right now.
