I have been trying to find a Luna charger here in Australia with no success. What model do you have?

According to the Lekker shop the bike has a Samsung battery pack. I guess there are Samsung batteries & Samsung batteries & then there are Chinese knock -offs. It is built with good quality components and I hope the same applies to the battery. Link to site -...

Thanks for the reply. I would not have thought that the lack of a "smart" battery charger or BMS would prevent the batterie's cells from balancing during a prolonged charge. (?) I'm being cautious here as a new battery costs A$800 + here in Oz.

I have had my bike for 9 months now and have settled into a charging routine which seems to be working OK – but guess I won’t really know until the battery dies. I ride the bike between 6 and 20 klms. a day. I recharge it every few days when it drops to around 36 volts+. I don’t allow it...

    Regular battery charging

Thanks for the welcome. See my reply below re. a charging routine. Don't know if its is correct but will give it a try until somebody comes up with a better idea. Lithium batteries are something else.

    Regular battery charging

Re the Luna charger - I actually e-mailed them and that was the reply I received. They do not make a 240v. input charger. How does this sound? Recharge my 36v battery when it gets down to 36-37 volts until it is showing 40 volts? I ride the bike every day, sometimes twice a day. I want to...

    Regular battery charging

I have completed the initial three 12 hour charges as per the bike instruction manual. From here on what should I allow the voltage of my my 36V. Samsung battery to fall to before recharging it?

Yes I understand the BMS looks after things. There is so much info. on the web re. Li batteries it is mind boggling I think it may have a balance feature - that's why they say to give it full charge the first three times.

Thanks for the input. There are 4 pages of the manual dedicated to battery care & maintenance. It says "you will need to cycle charge the battery for 12 hrs. for the first three charges. This will ensure the battery can hold the correct amount of charge" What they mean by "cycle charge" I'm not...

I usually ride my bike 6 to 12 kms. a day which I think is enough to keep me going. I am a very active 77 years old. The battery at the moment is showing 35.9 volts. Is it time to give it its second 12 hour charge? On a second point. How do I thank all responders to my original question...

This is what the bike specs quote : "Samsung 14.5AH 36v, 520W, charge capacity 70-140kms" . I think you are right - think they left the "Hr." component out. I don't take any notice of claimed mileages per charge. I am goin to set the charger up on a mains timer also. My charger is marked 2 amp...

I have just joined the forum and was reading a very good article on batteries & charging yesterday which basically stated that to prolong battery life it is best to charge a battery to 8o%. Does this 80% refer to the full charge voltage or the nominal voltage? My bike has a Samsung 14.5AH 36v...
