New , Gazelle Eclipse , Class 3 , Bosch Smart System

I think it looks great. It has pretty much every update I would have wanted including the larger battery and the newer Bosch system. The price and weight are a bummer but pretty much along the lines of what you'd expect for a similar Class 3 bike with a 750 Wh battery from Specialized or R&M...

    Checking in at 1K

I figured a little positive feedback was warranted in our sleepy neck of the woods. As a refugee from the much more lively Specialized forum I'm wondering if Gazelle owners are awash in quiet satisfaction for the most part.

1 Year Review Specialized Vado 4 (3000 miles)

Did they do a brake bleed at the service? The back break on my Vado 5.0 was pretty spongy and getting worse. Having that set bled firmed it up nicely.

    Checking in at 1K

Hey Everyone, I want to celebrate my T10+ reaching it's first milestone at 1000 miles. Purchased in September 2023, I have a long list of things I love about this bike, from its fire engine red paint job to its zippy motor that eats up my 16 mile commute in less than 50 minutes on most days...

I could smell my Vado motor about to fail

Hopefully the final update: I rode my bike home from the bike shop today, 106 days after the May 17th failure. After 75 days of being run around by Specialized and the LBS Specialized dealer, I rescued the bike, brought it to my normal bike shop where they removed the motor. I then shipped it...

I could smell my Vado motor about to fail

I agree that we don't have enough data. There's a selection bias because people only report to the forum when they have a problem. I wonder how many 10K Brose motors are out there? I wonder who has racked up the most miles on a motor without a component failure? Maybe we should start a thread...

I could smell my Vado motor about to fail

I have limited information, my communication with Specialized has only been through the bike shop and they have not been very easy to deal with. I assume that Specialized is not resetting warranties with a new motor, while my bike is 3.5 years old, the new motor that just broke was only 15...

I could smell my Vado motor about to fail

Good luck! Where things stand now is that Specialized offered to discount a new motor from $1200 to $800, I don't know if labor is included. I'm looking into having the broken motor refurbished, given I've broken two new motors in less than 6K miles I think I probably have more confidence in a...

I could smell my Vado motor about to fail

I don't think the basic design of the Brose motors has changed, they appear to still use a belt but there might be updates from the original material. I've been going down a bit of a YouTube Rabbit Hole learning about these motors. This video seems to present a comprehensive list of ways...

I could smell my Vado motor about to fail

That's what I'm hoping because I'd really like my next bike to not have this problem if I happen to buy another Specialized.

I could smell my Vado motor about to fail

You have 300 miles left, my motor went 4100 miles. Sounds like most people haven't had the number of miles and/or bad luck that I have. The LBS has sent out a number of motors to someone who rebuilds them and claims to use a more durable belt. If I don't end up getting the warranty replacement...

I could smell my Vado motor about to fail

Monday was the Two-Month-iversary of this failure. The LBS is still waiting to hear from Specialized about warranty, but I have no idea how long the bikes shop waited before contacting them. This fucking sucks.

I could smell my Vado motor about to fail

Thanks BlackHand. I just talked to the LBS today and they had been waiting for a quote on a rebuild--a straight replacement is $1400 plus $300 labor. In talking to them I realized that they were unaware that the motor had been replaced 15 months ago because it was done at a different LBS that is...

I could smell my Vado motor about to fail

Oooh, I hope. We'll see what the LBS says--I haven't gotten the estimate yet. The eBike is definitely my drug of choice, but it's a lot more fun to ride than smoke.

I could smell my Vado motor about to fail

In the last several weeks I started to notice a faint but distinct rubber smell coming off my 2020 Vado 5.0 at the end of my 16 mile commutes. Sure enough last week a few miles into my ride I was greeted by loss of power and the distinctive whir of a blown motor. This is the second time for my...

ABUS frame locks for Vado/Como have arrived (and they fit/work!)

The bike should have screws in the mounting points when you get it.

ABUS frame locks for Vado/Como have arrived (and they fit/work!)

Got my 4750 X and it fits beautifully on the 2020 Vado 5, XL frame. No need to remove the tire, although putting the braze-ons under the seat stays makes installation slightly less easy.

ABUS frame locks for Vado/Como have arrived (and they fit/work!)

I was able to special order several ABUS locks through my local bike store--I was even able to get Keyed Alike locks matching the code for my Battery Lock on my 2020 Vado. I'm still waiting on the 4750X NR lock I ordered about a week and a half ago through Mike's Bikes in Palo Alto CA, but they...

    Mission Control glitch

Yeah on my ride home today the Smart Control trick didn't work the first time I did it, but it worked later after I tried another power cycle on the bike.

    Mission Control glitch

Quick troubleshooting update. The app is defaulting to the value for battery percentage when the bike is turned on. I turned it on, it read 100% even though I ran it down to 98%. Then I stopped, turned the bike off and then back on and then it would report 98% even when I ran it down a few more...
