    Vado 5 charging question

Charged my battery ( 600Wh) to 100% this morning. Starting at 49% it took just over 2 hours with the 4A charger. My intension was to check if the charger would keep on ( indicating red) any time after reaching 100% on the display. However I’m not much of a scientist as I gave priority to my...

My opinion about firmware 7.1.1 is stiil the same. It has taken away the natural feel from the motor support at lower support settings (usually used in Eco mode). Especially at lower speeds. The bike now sometimes surges forward surprisingly long from a standstill. Seems to be a result of that...

    Vado 5 charging question

Isn’t there some sort of balancing of the battery cells going on when charging to 100%? When I did my first charge when the bike/battery was new it took more than 45min after reaching 100% before the chatger turned off. I have choosen to believe in the 20-80% ( when I don’t need 100%) charging...

That’s probably exactly what Specialized think is what all owners need to know. Not.:) (but I may try)

Nice to hear you’re having a good time with your ebike! About firmware upgrade - or not. It’s difficult ( and maybe not right) to tell others not to update. I don’t have information about what these updates really do. It’s a bit like e.g. Apple updates to your phone - they tell you about some of...

    Specialized battery solution. Problem solved!

Hi This is embarrassing. I just realised that you asked me in January about the velcro straps for the framebag. Sorry I missed that. This is of course too late but here is my answer any way. There was some velcro straps to put around seat tube and bottom tube but if I remember this right it...

My opinion is that you don’t want motor support while shifting and I don’t find 7.1.1 better for shifting while applying pressure on pedals. Stop pedaling just a little bit longer and shift earlier. I want 5.0.4 back in my Vado. Felt more natural.

I’ve always thought that the Vados have a lot of power even in Eco mode. Had a 2018 Vado 4 (1.2 motor) and now a 2020 Vado 5.

Thanks for your comment. Surge is probably the the word I was looking for. In addition to what I described in previous post I think that the crank wheel spins for a longer time now after a pedal stroke. Not sure about this though. Strange it is. 15 as support level is a little low for me. 20...

I’d like to hear from Vado riders with 25km/h restricted bikes. Or those who use Eco mode mostly ( I know settings can vary) Since I had my Vado 5 with 1.3 motor updated to 7.1.1 the natural feeling in power delivery is gone. This is most noticeable at lower speeds. My Eco settings used to be...

That is very interesting information. I had a Creo comp evo on loan for half a day and it was really fun even being a 25km/h bike but I found it very loud compared to my Vado.

Thank you Steve, I’m fine. S..t tired of course having to be careful in daily life but I’m not the only one in this situation and have been lucky to be allowed to go out for bike rides and walks whenever I want to. Take care.

23 June After dinner ride to my favorite ice cream café. ( about 9km one way) It’s not the best ice cream in town but a nice view. Picture taken 7.20 pm and it was warm and the sun sets at 10pm this time of year so I went south of the city and did a total of 42km arriving home at 10.15 pm...

Hi Have been off the forum for a while. Haven’t been riding much lately, partly because I don’t want to go by public transport to get out of town and also because I’m really disappointed with how my bike feels/responds after firmware update 6 weeks ago. Well I have been riding, we’ve had some...

Specialized Turbo Vado/Como/Tero/Tero X User Club

Since I had my Vado 5 ( EU version) at LBS for service where they updated the firmwares the bike feels very different. It’s like it’s in Sport mode or Turbo when I put it in Eco. The Eco mode factory preset according to Mission Control is no 35% support and 100% Peak power. Mission Control...

I’ll try it. Just need to check if I’m back to normal now that I can get my original settings. For planned elevation I guess I enter all ascents and forget about the descents?

No reason really. The original Eco setting was 35/35 on my bike. I have to experiment more with different settings now that I think I realized how peak power affects the feel. Thanks for bringing it up.

Reason(s) for the harsh Vado ride

The preload adjustment on the Vado fork don’t do much. Don’t think I feel any difference going from max. to min. Make sure the fork is not locked;) You should try to adjust the rebound with the red adjustment knob at the bottom of right fork leg. I set mine to min. and think I got everything a...
