    Riding the new ST2 s

The st2 s still has a hub motor, correct? Then the number of gears and their ratio is irrelevant to the motor torque. It'll help the rider match cadence with the motor for sure, but that's it.

    New BBS Middrive!

I find on steep hills (road) that even my 750w slows down to 20kph - I'm hoping the new one will manage 30kph on those hills. At the very least, it should be less stressed at the same speeds on the same hills, so less likely to overheat.

Paul hasn't any info on the motor yet but he's pushing for some with his contacts.

Any RadRover contributors out there ?

Another tire I'd forgotten about - I tried to get these but they were unavailable back when I tried. They look like a very good all round tire and have low rolling resistance for hard pack/roads; http://veetireco.com/product/mission-command/...

    New BBS Middrive!

A couple of things you misunderstood. The max drive is aimed at the Bosch market so has similar limits. The 24 hour Nuburgring race had allowable limits of assist so all drives were limited to the same speed cutoff on assist. What the max drive does have is more torque than the Bosch which...

Any RadRover contributors out there ?

Yes, I've heard that about the speedster but I doubt if it will be an issue if they are ridden on Tarmac. I agree the new Mammoths look promising too.

    New BBS Middrive!

Not on me but there is some info around if you google - it's very new but think similar specs and look as Bosch. I'm guessing there will be a bike or 2 with it on at interbike.

    New BBS Middrive!

Ravi, I kind of agree about the racing, however, beating a dozen Bosch powered teams on their own turf must mean something, probably something good. ;)

Any RadRover contributors out there ?

I think (I could be mistaken about this) they were designed by a Norwegian guy called Espen something or other - he designed the Nakamura/Mamut fat bikes and the Vee Snowshoe tires too. He posts over on the mtbr forum - he posted a video of him passing Lycra dudes on racing bikes going both up...

    New BBS Middrive!

But remember, Bafang also have their Bosch look-alike max drive which walked all over the many Bosch teams in a recent 24 hour ebike race. They aren't just DIY any more.

Check out the vee speedster fat tires.

    New BBS Middrive!

I've asked Paul at Em3ev when he'll get pricing/more info on them - hopefully not too long. I wonder if there will be a shift sensor/eRad version too.

I getting ready to buy an Orion 8 crawler fat tire bike from lectriccycles.com soon.

Sal, Big O will do a custom front fender if the original won't fit on the fork, so you have options.

Any RadRover contributors out there ?

If it's like over here, it's not your problem - you never received the item in question so it's Radrover's responsibility to replace it, send you a new one and to take it up with the shipping company (had a big, very expensive plasma go missing exactly the same way 6 years ago - it's an awful...

    New BBS Middrive!

Looks like Bafang has finally listened and produced a new middrive which will fit all BB sizes - going by the product page, you'll have to choose the motor by BB size. More power too - 160Nm! Cooling fins, integrated speed sensor and I'm guessing the new mosfets and BB sealing too. Looks like...

Very cool if it actually works

There's a thread over on endless sphere discussing this - it works but as with all friction motors there are downsides and compromises. From what I heard of real use video, it sounds fairly loud in a high pitched whine unpleasant sort of way.

I getting ready to buy an Orion 8 crawler fat tire bike from lectriccycles.com soon.

Sal, is that front fork of yours mounted correctly? Also, you may want to look a Big o Manufacturing, they have proper full fenders that actually work. Seem like they already have sets made for the Origin 8 crawler here; http://stores.bigomfg.com/origin-8-crawler/ I bought a custom set for my...

Range might not be everything but it's a lot!

I don't think many people that read ebike forums are going to be average Joe's when it comes to biking by definition. The average Joe is closer to the person that bought a Sondors - and they can't hit that 20 mile mark even if they want to. ;)
  19. Adrian

Range might not be everything but it's a lot!

Yes, no doubt but I just don't see Joe Average doing 20 or 30 miles on any kind of bike and those that will, well, there are other ebikes they will choose. This one is obviously primarily designed for the more hardcore mountain bikers to assist going up a mountain.

Range might not be everything but it's a lot!

Enough range is everything perhaps but I just don't see most people using their ebikes for 100 mile, or even 50 mile jaunts. Most would think a 20 mile ride was a long way.
