stompandgo's Pinarello Nytro E5 Allroad build thread

I made a few changes since I last posted in this thread.

A while back I made a custom Garmin Varia mount out of a sheet of HDPE that attaches to the SKS rack. I sized it for the RTL510 but the RV820 looks pretty good on it.

I also changed the saddle to one my fitter recommended, a Selle Italia SLR Superflow Boost, 143mm. I found one in great condition with Ti rails that we pulled from an eBay bike before sale. $100. It's the most comfortable saddle I've ridden on any bike in a while. A keeper.

Finally, based on @Jeremy McCreary's advice, I decided to change grips from the moto grips that came with the bike, to Ergon GP1 BioKork. I need to rotate them back a bit, but they stopped my wrist pain as they effectively increase the sweep. The cork is a bit sticky, but I always wear gloves when I ride, and they do not stick to them. They also absorb road vibrations really well. I bought them direct from Ergon on sale. They came super quick. The cork looks nice next to the brown frame.

Not sure that was me, but I do like my blue rubber GP1 grips. Didn't expect the most comfy paddle orientation to be that vertical, but life is full of surprises.

That saddle looks great, Chris. I really like the ergonomic grips on my Fättie. They came with the bike. I don’t recall any discussion about the BioKork ones, but they look very cool — and I bet they do look right against the Pinarello’s paint scheme.

Do you like riding with rear radar? That’s what that is, right?

I won't ride without it. I upgraded from the first generation RTL510. I posted a thread about it somewhere.
 
This morning, I set up my Shimano Deore XTR Di2 three button shifter to change screens on my Garmin 840. It's a multi-step process.

1. Pair the Di2 system to the Shimano E-Tube app, with your Garmin off, and your phone unpaired to the bike.
2. Select the shifter.
3. Select the third button.
4. Scroll down the option list and select D-Fly Channel 1 (or any free channel if you are already using channel 1).
5. Unpair E-Tube.
6. Start the Garmin.
7. Select Sensors-Shimano Di2.
8. Select Sensor Details.
9. Select Di2 Buttons.
10. Select D-Fly Channel 1.
11. Scroll down the options to select the actions you would like to take.

There are three options for the switch:
Single Press
Press and Hold
Double Press

Each of these can be set up for a multitude of actions. My setup:

Single Press - Next Screen
Press and Hold - Previous Screen
Double Press - Backlight On

Stomp: How long does it take for your drivetrain to activate when you first start pedalling on the day? It can be several crank rotations or even 100 metres of the ride in my own case!
 
I usually start in Off, but if I start in Eco, the assist rolls on within a few crank revolutions. It does this every time I turn the unit off and on again while riding. Nowhere near 300m.
 
Hey, Chris, do all the interconnections come back automatically when you remove battery(s) and re-seat them, or do you have to do a rain dance to set everything up when you ride? Just curious. It all sounds like great fun.

The main battery is internal, and I have never removed it. The extended battery fits in a water bottle cage with a strap. When both batteries are charged, the reported battery capacity depends on which display is used. With the original V01/V02 dot style display, both batteries show as 150% Capacity, since the extender has half of the main battery capacity. On my current V04 color display, each battery is reported separately at 100% and 100%, The TQ system uses the extender first until it is depleted, then switches seamlessly over to the main. So no, nothing changes as long as one battery is connected. No rain dance.
