e-bike ads

It’s kind of neat to be seeing e-bike ads (streaming) on TV. That’s a new one on me. I’m trying to recall which brands I’ve seen advertising — so I guess the ads aren’t that effective — but I can certainly tell you that I’d rather see these than the ubiquitous drug ads that plague the channels I usually watch. It’s a welcome relief.

Heretofore, the only “information” about e-bikes has been through word of mouth and research/web-sites. Was there TV advertising before this? I’ll admit, I wasn’t paying any attention before this decade.

I don't think I've ever seen an ebike ad on TV? I usually see them online if the "algorithm" detects my searches/content history. I like to delete clean that tracking data up a few times a month.

I take care of mom and she likes her game shows. They're always giving away ebikes on The Price is Right and Let's Make a Deal.

In the UK daytime TV has been swamped with ads for the elderly like cheerful people discussing cremation or harrowing charity adverts showing whipped and starved dogs. Advertising on TV (daytime) has become crazy cheap as everyone deserts terrestrial channels for the interwebs, I don't tend to sit through re runs of Murder She Wrote or antique shows but the same channel ITV used to show live Tour De France stages at the same daily times - and with the same terrifying adverts. So just after watching some skinny mountain goat climb Alpe D'heuz it cuts to "HAVE YOU ARRANGED YOUR FUNERAL YET?". Monty Pyton couldn't make it up.

Yeah, definitely we have access to all the information on the internet as the primary source for gathering info, but it is/was interesting for me to start seeing e-bike brand ads on streaming TV. It’s either Roku, Hulu, Prime, or Tubi where I’ve started seeing them.

I imagine that that’s probably true on the streaming channels too, Rás. I don’t really know. Tubi, for example, is a free channel with good movies but absolutely awful ads. As mentioned, I don’t know which of my current line-up had the bike ads.

I really hate the ads. For some reason I'm loathe to dish out to You tube even though I watch it a lot and so suffer the enormous amount of ads on there. Mostly for AI it seems these days.

Well keep your eyes open for an e-bike ad. Would be interesting to know if the European sales folks think TV advertising is worth it there.

I watch a lot of youtube, but on my PC.
I use Brave as the browser which nukes all the ads by default.

I do believe they have a MAC version.
DuckDuckGo does the same thing with deleting ads in youtube. Can’t do that with a streaming channel on your mac/pc though. :)

I dont watch terrestial tv, run adblock on internet devices and pay for premium youtube.
It doesnt block the ads on here for Urtopia etc, but theyre just banner ads, theyre the ones that dont pi55 me off and leave me with a bad perception of the product.

I clicked on Urtopia, straight to the point and lots of good reviews, anyone used them?

When I see mainstream TV ads at my mothers, its like watching some dystopian nightmare.
