Signs of fall/winter.

Try something like this....

It was only ten bucks, so I got one.
I might never wear it cuz I don't wanna look like a robot, but I can remove the bottom half then it's just goggles that I use anyway.

I updated the link to the actual one I have.
That's why I didn't want to wear it at first.... seemed like way overkill for bike rides.
But i have to tell you... It's the most comfortable I've been riding below 50° ever. Much better than any type of Balaclava

Same here...
I rode the same 55°f here today with a thin breathable long-sleeved sport shirt with a thin sport t-shirt over that which I really didn't need. Topped off with a paper thin windbreaker.
Bottom half was padded biking shorts under paper thin windbreaker pants... and I was borderline too hot.
This setup would probably be perfect for 48°-50°f
Had on thin but insulted windbreaker gloves that I swapped out for something more breathable half way through the 25mi ride
It's this time of year, when I'm forced to put the bike away for the season, that I always contemplate moving to a warmer climate. Maybe this year, the wife and I could spend Jan. & Feb. in Florida and take the bikes with us.

Not just yet!

But yeah I hear you... snow_birding ain't a bad idea.
Also I like to turn my attention to different activities when things get rough... but will still sneak out on those sunny 40° days.
There's more to life than a bicycle.

Nice perspective on the season‑shift as ride conditions change. I recently flew out after a fall trip, and used fast track JFK https://comfortpass.travel/airport/fast-track-charles-de-gaulle-international-airport-cdg/ at the airport so I could avoid the long security lines and start the journey with less stress. When you’re carrying bike gear, cold‑weather layers, and maybe leaving the riding behind for a bit, that extra convenience helps set the tone. Arriving in a better mindset made the whole transition from warm rides to colder ones feel smoother.
