In my mind the gender is a secondary problem. It's that your controller/display combo for some reason is pin'd out differently than most others.Yes, that did cross my mind to try, however I'm going to see if changing the cable works first, think that'll be the easier option. Plan B will then to try that. You've been a great help by the way, given me some good pointers to investigate, thank you,
No matter what cable you decide to work on.. The pin to function issue needs to be addressed.
So that opens up this option. You should be able to release the pins on the controller connector and reinsert them back into the black housing in the correct order matching the new display.
I would draw out/photograph and then do a continuity test to work and verify the process.
