I'm still not clear why the interface might need to be reset to get the full range after changing frayed cables in the shifter ("controller" in Enviolo-speak). Could it be because users forced on the shifter at stand-still, and strongly enough to turn the interface on its...
So, unlike what I read, mid-motors with torque sensors do provide more power the faster you spin, so you really should downshift and spin like on a muscle bike so as to keep the motor in the zone it's most efficient?
That's also what I thought (spinning at least 60-70 RPM to keep the motor in its sweet spot), but I read somewhere that some mid-drives with torque sensors at least provide less power the faster you spin because it figures you don't need much help if you can spin fast.
Hence the confusion...
Hello,
I'm confused about how mid-drive motors with torque sensors work in conjuction with mechanical gear ratios.
Am I correct in understanding that the stronger you push on the pedals, the stronger the assistance from the motor?
And conversely, the faster you spin after selecting a...
To check if the issue could be with the shifter, the cables, or even the fasteners wrongly set at the end of each cable… is it possible to manually dial the interface, eg. move it to full underdrive before riding up a hill?
The issue with hills could just be a problem with the cables, preventing the rider from reaching the lowest "speeds":

Thanks. Problem is, there's no reseller here, only a single LBS who's never seen an Enviolo. Upgrading the Brose software seems even more unlikely without being a Triobike/Brose retailer. The joys of buying a sophisticated bike with no local skills (not my choice). We'll give it a try anyway...
Hello,
This used Triobike Boxter cargo trike sports a Brose mid-drive motor, 50/24 cogs, an Enviolo Heavy Duty gear hub, and a Gates belt drive.
There are three issues:
The user complains about having to pedal too hard up hill, even though someone she knows with the same bike — ie. same...
Just like for Shimano gear hubs, the "Enviolo cable tool" isn't required but nice to have.
How to set the cable length for the manual hub interface (with the enviolo cable tool)
Ah, didn't think of the controller. Thanks much for the input. She never could resume cycling, even after turning the motor off and on.
But we'll never know for that Dutch-made trike, as she finally got the LBS to replace it with a two-wheel Bakfiets, also with a Bafang mid-drive. Too bad no...
Hello,
Remotely, I'm trying to help a non-techie who bought a Dutch-made used cargo trike in good condition from a bike shop.
1. It has a Bafang M400 mid-drive (MM G33.250, 36V 250W 14A; It's in Europe, hence the 250W motor)), and a Nuvinci Optimized 330 gear hub with an automatic shifter + H3...
Thanks. I was more concerned about the internals, since like all gear hubs save the Shimano Nexus 5, the Enviolo predates mid-drive motors, and some users can be a bit rough.
