[Bafang + Nuvinci] Cargo bike seizes up in hills

Ah, didn't think of the controller. Thanks much for the input. She never could resume cycling, even after turning the motor off and on. But we'll never know for that Dutch-made trike, as she finally got the LBS to replace it with a two-wheel Bakfiets, also with a Bafang mid-drive. Too bad no...

[Bafang + Nuvinci] Cargo bike seizes up in hills

Hello, Remotely, I'm trying to help a non-techie who bought a Dutch-made used cargo trike in good condition from a bike shop. 1. It has a Bafang M400 mid-drive (MM G33.250, 36V 250W 14A; It's in Europe, hence the 250W motor)), and a Nuvinci Optimized 330 gear hub with an automatic shifter + H3...

    Enviolo NuVinci CVP Hub Overview

Thanks. I was more concerned about the internals, since like all gear hubs save the Shimano Nexus 5, the Enviolo predates mid-drive motors, and some users can be a bit rough.

    Enviolo NuVinci CVP Hub Overview

How reliable is the Enviolo with a mid-drive motor on a cargo bike, ie. a much heavier bike than a regular e-bike?

Why are bottom brackets with torque sensor so rare?

Thanks, I did know about the TSDZ2 middrive, but replacing the controller looks like a much easier and cheaper alternative for that existing bike — after bottom brackets with a torque sensor… which seem unvailable for a Bafang rear hub. What plug and play KT controller do you guys suggest for...

Why are bottom brackets with torque sensor so rare?

Throttles are illegal in Europe. Still, how would I add it to that rear hub Bafang-powered bike? Would I need a new controller? Also, what does "power based" cadence system (KT's "torque simulation") really does/mean?

Why are bottom brackets with torque sensor so rare?

Thanks for the infos. I'm looking for a financially reasonable solution to add to that rear hub Bafang bike shown in the picture. Since it's in Europe, it has no throttle (illegal.) Does Grin Tech provide a bottom bracket with torque sensor that I could hook up to a Bafang hub motor...

Why are bottom brackets with torque sensor so rare?

Hello, I know someone who bought a second-hand e-bike with a Bafang/8 fun rear hub motor, and is looking for a solution to replace the very unnatural on/off cadence sensor. It feels like riding a motorcycle. So I looked for Bafang-compatible bottom brackets with torque sensor… and found none...

Why did the EU choose 250W?

It still doesn't answer the question. Why 250W, instead of 100W, 150W, 350W, etc. ?

Why did the EU choose 250W?

Thanks, but I still wonder where that 250W came from. I notice Yamaha offered its 235W PAS in 1993, and an average person riding at an average pace outputs about 100W of power.

Why did the EU choose 250W?

Hello, I was wondering where that 250W limit* on e-bikes in Europe come from, since it's higher in North America and hilly Switzerland. Does someone know? Thank you. * "Directive 2002/24/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 March 2002 relating to the type-approval of two or...

Radwagon: How steep of a grade can it handle?

Hello, I'm located in Europe, where e-bikes with a motor > 250W are considered light motorcycles, which has a bunch of nasty requirements (registration + license plate, insurance, motorycle helmet + gloves, bike lanes/tracks are off-limit, etc.) In one of the threads on the Radwagon here...
