    Replace drop with straight handlebar

Greydog, thanks for the added info... I ended up with a squirrelly-looking hybrid Mcgiver approach that actually worked for my old back...

    Replace drop with straight handlebar

I've already maxed out the stem raising and angle with adapters similar to the ones you mentioned. Really need a high profile straight bar, and will probably have to lengthen cables. Too bad they don't make Tiagra hydraulic levers that definitely fit, huh?

Larry, thanks so much for sharing all this great research with me about what's involved to switch out the Civante bars... makes it clear what's needed. Regards - Tod

Civante disk brakes are Shimano 105 SM-RT70

I got the Shimano chain and it's so much better. Cleaner shifting, and just a smoother pedaling feel overall. Great idea, thanks

    Replace drop with straight handlebar

Thanks. ... to me it looks like the Bl -4700 isn't for hydraulic brakes... That's why I was trying to find one that is. ... Maybe I'm wrong

    Replace drop with straight handlebar

Unfortunately, need to go with something that allows me to sit even more upright than the riser/flare bars. So you're saying to get new calipers to go with the brake levers?

    Replace drop with straight handlebar

So due to back problems, looking to swap my Civante dropbars for straight ones...having trouble finding any available shifter and brake components to make this handlebar switch. I've seen they make some that work, but no availability for at least several months or indefinite. Anyone have ideas...

Oski, - cassette should be fine, especially since it's shifting well now with the new chain. I think longevity can depend on how "smoothly" you routinely shift it...

    Civante GPS/Computer mounting

Hey Dave, since you mentioned the difficulty of adding things to the Civante bars, I have to share what I did to help compensate for a bad back... needed an even more upright riding position then I could get with extenders, so I added on this kids bar set, and even though it looks funky, my back...
