I installed Jones H-Bar® SG 2.5 Loop Aluminum on my Vado 4.0. They raise the bars 2.5' and sweep back nicely. It did require installing a longer shift cable and back brake line. I really like the bars, they have improved the comport of my ride. I'm a bit more upright so less pressure on my hands...
Sounds like your getting there; sorry you didn't like the Jones bars. I wondered at first if 45 degrees would be too much back sweep but it seems like a more natural hand position at least for me. Hopefully your new ones will work better for you; getting the right bars that are comfortable can...
Very nice rig, if you go with others they can help lift the bike. You can haul all the locks and chains necessary to secure the bike in the truck. How’s the fishing?
Haven't been watching the forum too much so just saw this. I installed the Jones bars and I really like them; they added 2.5 inches of height and the sweepback got them a bit closer. Much more enjoyable ride. Most likely the rear brake hydraulic line and shift cable will need to be changed as...
I finally got my new right brake line and shift cable replaced with longer ones to accommodate the Jones bars I put on my Vado 4. Brakes are working fine but shift cable needs adjustment as some shifts are not so good. Probably just cable tension adjustment as all was well before replacing the...
Stefan, Are there bike lanes for most of the route or must you ride in traffic? If in traffic Drivers must be much more accommodating to bike riders than here in Indiana.
No I don’t feel it’s too much. if you hang your arms Loose at your side and bing them forward and up 45 degrees is about the natural angle your wrist Are at.
I agree, routing the new shift cable and hydraulic line won’t be fun. Like you and a few others I’m an engineer which means I can have too much of a can do attitude that gets me into more work than I like.
Stefan, I understood that from your comments but I preferred more back sweep and the Jones bars provide additional space to change hand positions plus more room to mount a bag or light. Just a personal preference ; once I get the cable and hose installed all should be good. It will be good...
I finally purchased and installed Jones bars on my Vado 4 2020. They provide 2.5" of rise and 45 degree back sweep and based on a few short rides I like they a lot. I'm more upright with less stress on my wrists. Seems to be a very comfortable riding position, much more natural for the wrists...
Gege, I would also like more info on extending or replacing the hydraulic brake line. I just received the Jones bars but the right brake line and shifter cable needs to be longer by 3-4 inches.
