First 350 Miles on the Kona El Kahuna

USClassic- Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm riding on washboard gravel roads alot. So a front suspension is important to me. When I started looking, I had trouble getting used to the hub motor systems I tried. Some are now based on torque, and that would be an improvement. Gotta love the price...

First 350 Miles on the Kona El Kahuna

So after much riding and testing, I bought the Kona El Kahuna SUV. It was being sold by a nearby LBS that has a large and solid presence in the community. The primary deciding factors were that it was among the ‘lightest’ bikes and the LBS had a good relationship with Kona. Now with 350 miles on...

    Rocky Mountain Hardtails

Hi Ted. I bought the Kona El Kahuna. I just rode past 200 miles on it and plan to write a 'first impressions' note any day now. Definetly ride before you buy. Make a list of priorities and then learn how much you are willing to compromise :) But don't analyze too long. I'm totally stoked by...

It's Down to 2 Bikes, unless

Well it finally happened. Only took a year. Sorry about compromising the desire for a battery in the down tube, but it is a fine, quiet, bike with more than enough power and battery, light enough to do a lot of the ride without assist. I've added a dropper post, and am waiting on Ergon GP1 grips...

    Shimano E-Tube Ride App

Thanks! I've now noticed that ring around the speed display and saw it change color to display the assist mode. That was cool. I'll agree with Stefan that it should be easy to populate the 'pwr' field. Was it an easy swap to the SC-E6100? Is it legible for older well used eyes? Th SC-E7000 is...

    Shimano E-Tube Ride App

This is a cross posting from 'Parts and Accessories' I'm riding a loaner bike until mine is ready. It uses Shimano Steps components as will mine, DU-E6100 motor, BT-E8010 battery, SC-E7000 display, and the SE-E6000 switch. The display is too small for me so I've installed E-Tube Project and...

    Cross posting

I'm having an issue with a Shimano E-Tube app used for turning a mobile phone into a display. I've posted on 'Parts and Accessories' forum, but maybe the Shimano forum is more appropriate. Is it possible to 'cross post' on both? How? Or move a post? TIA

    Shimano app E-Tube Ride

I'm riding a loaner bike until mine is ready. It uses Shimano Steps components as will mine, DU-E6100 motor, BT-E8010 battery, SC-E7000 display, and the SE-E6000 switch. The display is too small for me so I've installed E-Tube Project and E-Tube Ride on my cell phone. The Project shows all...

    One Sweet LBS

So here's a bridge photo of a bike that got delivered and built by Full Cycles in Boulder CO. They had ordered the Kona El Kahuna SUV for me. The non SUV version was delivered. A new bike needed to be ordered another 10-14 days until it would be delivered and built. So they just give me this...

It's Down to 2 Bikes, unless

The first 2 ebikes I rode were the Dew E and the El Kahuna. I wanted a more discreet internal battery. After seeing the compromises that the Talon and Tero would be, I decided that since compromise was necessary, this was the best compromise. Thanks for your input during the search.

It's Down to 2 Bikes, unless

So 1/2 the money for the new bike was paid yesterday, delivery within 2 weeks. The difference between the Alivio and Deore drivetrains were part of the reason for the change of plans. Another was the county deciding last Monday that class 1 bikes are now approved on trails and paths on many of...

    New EBR Member

Sweet! Great to know. That certainly keeps Talon in the loop. I could hardly see anything on the Talon's Display A readouts, but the Tero's MasterMind TCD was on par with Yamaha's E6100. Being new to Ebikes, it seems a minimum of legible info should be speed, cadence, battery charge, and how...
