What tyre is it? I have them with WTB Byways 44mm. They work fine - but it totally depends on the tyre, and knobs etc. 45mm is at the edge of fitting I think. SKS also do a similar mudguard for mtbs might be worth looking at them. Called Veloflex - it might be too wide, but perhaps worth a look.
