    Zen Samurai Diamond

Keep us informed. I would love to see how it rides. Since I have bought the Diamond I have transferred closer to home and now ride every day. The bike has been absolutely great. when do you think you will have one of the new frames in your shop?

The Rohloff's huge gear spread makes short work of most hills. I would say that once you lose momentum up a steep hill on a heavy bike you are hosed and the only surefire way out would be a throttle button. 😆

That sounds about right. Based on how the rohloff shifts it really does not like to shift under torque. My last road bike had a lower end Shimano gear set and I couldn’t shift it under torque either (without grinding) so I don’t think it’s 100% fair to single out rohloff for an issue that is...

    Zen Samurai Diamond

One more thing to add here. A few people have reached out to me regarding the Zen Diamond and I will reiterate what I have been saying privately. This is a very stable and smooth bike. I do most of my riding in an urban environment and there are some streets where my ability to get the Zen...

    Zen Samurai Diamond

I see what they are saying based on what you quoted. On a mountain bike going up some technical trail you really do not want to have to shift to an easier gear when you are bogged down. Just because the bosch motor cuts out momentarily does not mean the force you are applying to the pedal...

The kickstand is a beast. Like the rest of the bike, it is very stable and works great. Here is a side by side with my wife's Specialized Como.

    Zen Samurai Diamond initial review

On Friday I asked my wife to drop me off at work with my bike so I would have no other option than to ride it home. I would have to cross the Richmond-San Rafael bridge and the Golden Gate to make it. I ended up covering just over 35 miles in 2:26. Google maps had 1700' of elevation change...

    Zen Samurai Diamond initial review

The Rohloff is a 14 speed and is super cool. I have one on a non ebike that I have used and abused and the hub is still perfect. From what I can tell the rules are the same from the unpowered to the powered in that the hub really does not like to shift under torque. The E-shift motor cut off...

    Zen Samurai Diamond initial review

Hi Fez, There is no question that the brakes are really good and I didn't want to give the impression they were inadequate in any way. This was my first ride and really the first time these brakes were stressed at all. The other riding to this downhill was all either flat or uphill which did...

    Zen Samurai Diamond initial review

Here is my review of the Zen Samurai that I picked up in Ashland Oregon this week: Background: I have a cool fat tire Rohloff hub hard tail and a Pinion drive Priority 600 for my on and off road biking. My wife did not like riding with me because she had trouble keeping up. I bought her a...

    Zen Samurai Diamond

That is a nice looking bike. It is great to see the bike getting put together. How much work is it to install the Bosch system and lights on to the frame?

    Zen Samurai Diamond

How is the bike progressing? I saw the frames which looked great. Have they been treated and painted yet? It would be great to see a bike that has been built out. These things are going to rock

That is exciting news. I can’t wait to see photos of the bike put together
