In a serious bike accident, your iPhone's (or Apple Watch's) accelerometer detects the accident (abrupt stop, fall, etc.) and automatically notifies emergency services and your emergency contact.

That is not a problem. My bikes, different makes, do that as well. There's probably a technical (i.e. electrical) reason for it. Nothing to be concerned about.
A 46-mph "bicycle" is not a (legal) bicycle. There's a reason why motorcycle riding is licensed.

For protective equipment I prefer something that protects me better than looking better. But, if the form (as opposed to function) gets you to wear them, then I can't fault your rationale.
Did you get the Classic or Round fit? Sounds like Classic would fit you better if it isn't already. I got the Round because that works better for my head shape.
