Washington State's new ebike laws just passed.

My first fat tire cruiser 750W hub drive I bought in 1999 didn't have limits and I could pedal hard and get it up to 37mph. My mid drive full suspension 1000w cuts out at 20mph so anything beyond that is on me and I really don't need anything more. I'm sure I could reprogram my mid drive but...

Do You Wear A Cap Underneath Your Bicycle Helmet?

I've worn a cap under my helmet only if I plan to wear a hat when I'm off the bike at my destination. Other then that, just the helmet.

Washington State's new ebike laws just passed.

I think 20kmh is a bit slow since its about the same as 12mph. Our trail/path speed limits here in the USA are usually 15mph, about the same as 24kmh and feels very responsible. Back in the 1970's and 80's as kids we had mini bikes and any time we were caught by the police on the roads they...

Washington State's new ebike laws just passed.

TRUE TRUE, and I raced road bikes for almost 20 yrs and never once had the urge to put on spandex or wear a diaper on my butt....no need if you ride every day.

Washington State's new ebike laws just passed.

Nobody that rides with common sense will be bothered. Its to get the kids on the e-motorcycles off the roads. I ride (PEDAL) what would be classified as a class 3 (1000w), but only exceed 20mph coasting down hill. I'm not too worried about anyone bothering me since nobody would even know my...

Help deciding when to switch to an ebike?

In my 20's and 30's I was heavy into road bikes, occasional racing and a little mtn bike. Years of basketball wore out my knees and eventually I stopped riding bikes because the hill climbs would be too painful. When I saw a friends ebike about 5 yrs ago I thought it was the coolest thing. I...

Rad Power Bikes may close soon

They never do that for safety reasons, its always about the money. I would just put a Class 1 sticker on my bike and let them prove otherwise..... =)

Rad Power Bikes may close soon

There are a lot of better bikes in the same price range. Anyone looking at a Rad should check out Aventon or Himiway for example.

Sometimes you feel like a mid, sometimes you don't....

I have had my cobra pro 3 yrs now after having a cruiser hub drive for 2. It did take a couple months to really get comfortable with all the shifting and so forth, but once you get into the groove its really awesome and I would never go back to a hub. The Cobra Pro is a great bike for tackling...

Rad Power Bikes warehouse catches fire

Funny how fire seems to hit companies that file bankruptcy..... o_O

Rad Power Bikes may close soon

Rad is also located in Ballard which is a very expensive place to operate from, and any employees in that area will be demanding significant wages. The mgmt probably sucked much of the investment dollars figuring it would just keep pouring in......just a guess.

New ebike laws in California taking effect January 1, 2026

You know what would get attention at night? A blinking BLUE light on your bike... I wonder how that would go over with the police?

New ebike laws in California taking effect January 1, 2026

I am more frustrated at the lack of enforcement of the tinted windows in our state these days. The fact that I can't see most of the drivers now to know if they see me is dangerous, but the police don't seem to do much about dark tint, but want to force us to be a lighted christmas tree for the...
