Thanks for bringing up that you need the two button power controller to make the Mastermind display work. I didn't notice that the Mastermind only has one button, an on/off button.
The whole thing was $90. The LBS didn't break down the cost between parts and labor. The bike mechanic was...
I rode the Creo 1 with the new Mastermind display about 20 miles yesterday. It worked great with no problems or issues at all. I also added the two button handle bar controllers. It sort of feels like a new bike. I'm surprised that Specialized is offering more value to older bikes, but I'm glad...
I took my Creo 1 into my local bike shop yesterday to get the Mastermind display installed. They said it worked after they installed the latest firmware update. They charged $90. I'm picking the bike up later today. I'll let you know if there's any unforeseen problems once I ride it for a bit.
Does anyone know if this upgrade is only available in the UK? I live in the US. I talked to my LBS last week. They didn't know anything about it. Thanks!
My cracked wheel story is a different from yours in that my 2020 Vado 4 was 2-3 months out of warranty (vs 4 years old). I had similar cracks in one spot by a spoke on the rear wheel. I assumed that I would have to purchase a new wheel, but the bike shop where I bought the bike from filled out a...
I'm not a bike mechanic. I'm just a guy who likes to ride bikes. Hopefully, some of the amazing bike geniuses in the forum can help vado5.0slcreo2 solve his dilemma. A few amateur things I'd add though are. Since it sounds like a primary concern is about safety, I'd check every millimeter of the...
That's so funny that this popped up as a thread. I just replaced this battery on a Gen 2 Levo and a Gen 1 Creo display unit. It was really easy once I figured it out. I used $2 fine pointed jewelry tweezers like these.

Wait, I'm confused? What do you mean that your Creo 2's rear end pops and it's unrideable? It was just a few posts ago that you were almost hitting 10,000 miles and loving your bike.
I never did a follow up on my alloy Creo 2 issues. I wanted to make sure that my situation was really resolved.
It appears that my Creo 2 alloy version was a lemon. Out of the 6-7 weeks that I owned it, it was in the shop for roughly half that time. The problem was the power was cutting out...
The Wolf tooth chain ring is an effective solution to this issue on Creo's. There also is a little chain guide for Creo's that helps keep the chain on the chainring. You can google "Creo Chain Guide" to find them. They used to be on Specialized website, but I don't see them today. Performance...
If you do decide to raise your handlebars, Redshift has a new MTB riser bar that looks pretty cool. They have versions of this bar for road/gravel bikes and have started making a straight bar version for MTB's (or in this case EMTB's)
Good luck deciding what direction to go...
Thanks mschwett! That's really interesting.
I don't want to say too much more about my Creo 2 issues until I learn more about what's really going on. One thing I can say is that I'm surprised by how much more information Specialized mechanics get when hooking a bike up to their diagnostic...
My LBS got a really interesting message from Specialized after reviewing all of the error codes on my new Creo 2. They think it might be a defective battery and are sending out a new battery and wiring harness. I think the plan is to install a new battery, reset the system and recalibrate all of...
I took the Creo 2 to the Specialized shop where I bought it. My favorite bike tech there doesn't think that it's a low cadence issue like some folks here have said, but he's not sure what the issue is. He's filed a report with Specialized to get more feedback. I guess the bike was filled with a...
Thanks for your feedback folks. I'll be honest I don't ever think about cadence. I just pedal at whatever rate feels best. I am getting older. That's for sure! Maybe I'm slowing down? If this problem ends up being "operator error" it's probably the best solution. I'll start playing with cadence...
