I've used trekking-poles for years now, even on my daily 1-3 mile dog-walks. In addition to the benefits you mention, they also promote a more upright, shoulders-back stance, combating the forward leaning stoop many of us acquire as we get older.

Rain here as well. We're currently on flood watch, the river in front of the cabin has risen 8' in the past week. We still have 5+' of freeboard, but with rain in the forecast for the next 4 days, there is some concern. I will spend today plugging the two culverts which go under out flood...
One our LBSs quoted me $500C to do a tune-up on my Bulls Iconic; that included a $200C charge for an initial inspection because I didn’t buy the bike from them. I will be looking into other options, including getting my hands greasy.
I bought my first ebike 10 years ago when riding my android bike up hills and into the wind took the fun out of the ride. The deciding factor was that I could no longer keep up with my wife after She started riding an ebike.
I do most of my riding on MUPs, rail trails in particular, there is a hierarchy when it comes to right of way. Horseback riders and dog-sleds are at the top, followed by pedestrians, cyclists, then motorized (ATVs, Motorcycles). The speed limit on the trails is 50kph, horses and dog-sleds...
