The recharge rate on my battery is about 20% per hour. I picked up a timer for my charger, it makes it very easy to recharge the battery to my desired level; usually 80%.

The Maxim around here, is to brake to avoid collisions with anything smaller than a moose, that would include bears, and deer. You should also brake to avoid hitting a moose, but if that doesn't/won't work, swerve; you don't want to have a 1,000+ pound critter coming through your windshield.

This time of year I carry bear-spray in my bike bag, and a bear-banger in my pocket when I'm riding the trails. If I'm out walking, I have the bear-spray on my belt. We have seen a couple of black bears this year.
